One of the things Iā€™m going to lean back into exploring is a connective thread between my Brilliant Labs Frame šŸ‘“ and my @museapp.bsky.social corpus. Thereā€™s a lot of ā€œhey take a noteā€ and ā€œdid I have a note aboutā€ which Iā€™d gotten used to with the AiPin - thereā€™s something to explore anew I feel

The Humane AiPin is set to be cut off in a few hours, posted some wrap up thoughts while on a walk yesterdayā€¦ going to have to shift once again šŸ‘“ youtu.be/snnC0pnJu8Q?...

People tell me to be safe while biking, and while I appreciate it, what I'd really appreciate is people going a step further and pondering *why* they think biking is unsafe. Because then they'd have to grapple with the fact that we've designed our society to make biking "dangerous" for many people.

2nd verse of Lift Every Voice been on the mind in the late AM/early PM today... "realizing and resiliency" are part of what's felt in singing so far

This week I wrote about the ways companies reduce friction to make products easier and nicer to use. They say itā€™s to benefit the end user but it in the long term it really just makes their products more successful. Friction is necessary resistance. www.leahreich.com/friction-is-...

Really good review of what the AiPin was and wasn't good at - almost enough to fill in the blanks of my own (eventual) writeup: blog.viditb.com/what-the-ai-...

Having inklings of looking into a BlueSky PDS (again) ā€¦not because anything here is off. But because things outside of here are weird šŸ”®

Everyone deserves the space to safely ride a bike.

Existing as this multi-modal fella has some weird swings. Sunny days means for a kind of gentler feeling and insightsā€¦ ā€¦those living between the walls and on the rails of those who might not see the present at the same speed. Building the present future, not futureā€™s present

Dusted off the Zizzo yesterday for its first ride of 2025. A bit chillier than I anticipated & wished I had a jacket. Just a short ride around the neighborhood. Looking forward to warmer days & more leisurely rides. Thanks @arjwright.com for the nudge to get it done.

Calling this a slightly chilly clean-up ride. Such a nice spot to stop and take in thingsā€¦ but probably should have used something other than my 12in iPad Pro for this pic šŸ˜† ebikes are a good option for days like this. Iā€™d love lighter weight, but this Trek Allanant+ 7S is otherwise solid here

Reminds of this AM: Cardinal came to deck kicking off sparrows and ā€œink blotā€ birds from the seeds Iā€™d put outā€¦ dude wasnā€™t around all winter and comes into the sunny day kicking feathers all over the place for seeds šŸ˜† Maybe this is a better sign for the incoming spring season than a critter šŸ¤

A brilliant article on how promoting road schemes (dualling, extensions, bypasses) appear as logical technical solutions but sustainable transport schemes are framed as political choices. open.substack.com/pub/omerbor/...

Gosh ,I'm going to miss the convos wearing the AiPin sparks

Shared my impressions with a few friends, which turned into a Reddit post, then blogged on Medium about it medium.com/@arjwright/b... It was finally a sunny day and I got to play on a new Brompton G-line. Twas a good and needed day

I am about to have a little bit of fun with the new Brompton G-line in DC @bromptonbicycle.bsky.social this looks really nice next to my Green Partner

Times are tough right now, but take a deep breath and enjoy this moment of pure joy. The Cycling Without Age movement allows people who can no longer ride an opportunity to feel the wind on their faces once again and, in this case, reconnect w/ dear friends. See my profile in šŸ§µ youtu.be/lqA5jPighfQ

Ooh and āœšŸ¾ for later convos Many thanks for thread and šŸ”—

This might look like a #badgeographyjoke at first but is really just a geography lessonā€¦

#BikeSky Isnā€™t a Cult, Itā€™s a Community We wonā€™t ask for blind faith or total commitment. Whether you ride daily or just when you can, youā€™re welcome here. Thereā€™s no ā€œperfectā€ way to ride. We celebrate all kinds of cyclists, whether commuting, exercising, or just enjoying a leisurely ride.

For once, have been the kind of low-online thatā€™s been a good thing. Nothing like spending time with folks who help you discover your softer ways

If itā€™s good enough to drive itā€™s probably good enough to šŸš². At least that what I tell myself. And certainly, it was šŸŒ„ļø enough to ride. To do the usual bike to breakfast and small pick up at the grocery store. Even carrying flowers. Nothing about wet/slushy roads holds one back except their šŸ§

It was 2014 and I'd been winding down a long-running magazine. Got invited to speak about smart cities at The Hague Telecom. Heck of a cool time. One of my most colorful talks for sure... to be near planning/dev/multi-modal stuff now must be a šŸŒ€moment www.slideshare.net/slideshow/re...

When you work on wicked hard problems w/really smart people, you learn that their confidence is not bc they have the answers. Their confidence comes from knowing how to define the right qā€™s that will enable them to move forward incrementally.

To clarify as there is sometimes confusion around the advocacy of making our streets bicycle friendly.

How to support more active travel in ā€˜environmentally challengingā€™ areas (eg steep slopes, extreme weather)? This interesting review looks at the range of strategies available (e-bikes, shaded walkways etc) Concludes: ā€œthe need for interventions that are context-sensitiveā€¦ā€

Sometimes you really do just need to get out on your bikeā€¦ ā€¦also didnā€™t hurt to have two de ent convos between the two bike shops Iā€™ve visited today. Def pedaled into some needed bits today in my neck of #bikeMD

Feels like a small group of us back in the Jaiku days noticed this (as šŸ¦ gained traction). Itā€™s a different game, and one whose social context scales differently
