Today, mothers and fathers in Gaza are mourning their children because governments across the world did not deem their lives worthy of protection.

Every week, I speak to people in my constituency struggling with mental health. Many are worried about feeding their kids, paying the rent or losing benefits. Britain's mental health crisis is the result of political choices. This government is choosing to push more people into despair.

Scapegoating refugees has always been a deliberate ploy by governments to distract from their own domestic failures. Pandering to Reform UK will backfire — and vulnerable people will pay the price. End dangerous crossings by opening safe routes for fellow human beings instead.
