This came after I said that the therapist was essentially the same as a mother, in that the kinds of things that you bring up in therapy you bring up without the fear that it will fuck up the relationship

Not defending AI, but I think *this* is part of the argument the original poster was making in the first place

I think if you're claiming to care about critical thinking you should be willing to back up your claims, as that is in no small part the thing that is being measured by the studies you hint at

Or ig negative correlation between confidence in AI results and "critical thinking" (wrapping that in quotations because they use a specific taxonomy to define it, which you may agree or disagree with)

How can you empirically measure someone "getting dumber"? If you're thinking of the Carnegie + Microsoft paper what it showed is that there is a positive correlation between confidence in AI results and lessened "critical thinking." No causation is established.

I glimpse at God when I see Vaquita, when he stretches his paw toward me as I walk close to him, when in his sight I know his intention, when he asks me to brush him, and when he cleans me while cleaning himself

I hated Buber when I first read him, and I can't forgive his Zionism, but I think he was spot on when he said that in the I-thou relation is the place where one gets a glimpse of God

I want nothing more than to reach past myself, for a touch that ceases to be "touch" upon contact. I think that's what God and the divine are; a dissolution of the self, a melting into.

A Venezuelan migrant kills a white woman and a bill gets passed in her name in a mass deportation campaign, but a white man kills a black man and the right gives him a new job

I think it might have (pixel 8) but android feels very buggy these days so I just chalked it to that

Like it feels a little too overt? Kier/Lumon are clearly the demiurge. The bright, blinding, artificial office lights in what is a confusing world deep within another. Sophia/wisdom through the maps and the outside books end up being what drives the "innies" to realize the nature of their existence?
