I wonder if and how Kurdish voters, at least some of whom would have Turkish citizenship, play into that. Do they not vote? Did they somehow get stripped of their right to vote? Are they just fewer people compared to ethnic Turks?

52% domestically vs 65% in Germany in 2018. It's not *that* much, but with people leaving Turkey to get away from a authoritarian I'd expect the opposite tbh. Genuinely curious what leads to this.

Any theory why immigrants seemingly support authoritarians at home at a disproportionate rate? Erdogan has more support in Germany than in Turkey for example.

We Germans failed miserably with denazification and all those little insignificant individuals brought their rot and it grew and grew and permeates the German state to this day, playing a large role in the rise of the neo-fascists. De-Assad-ification or debaathification must do better.
