Did you know the Tories signed a Youth Mobility Scheme with Uruguay in Aug 2023? The UK also has a YMS with Andorra, Australia, Canada, Republic of Korea, Hong Kong, Iceland, Japan, Monaco, New Zealand, San Marino & Taiwan. So will Tories also support one with the EU? Would be inconsistent not to.

Shadow Trade Sec, Andrew Griffith, underlines need to "have honest conversations about immigration", then in the next breath dishonestly labels youth mobility as "freedom of movement" that may "tip hundreds of thousands" into the UK. Before accepting we have exactly such a scheme with Australia.🤔~AA

Labour racked up the wins this week. Lots of new initiatives that just make sense (and make the country safer and greener in particular). 6 things you might have missed:

Is Starmer bored of winning yet, you may ask? Well, no 👇 #ukpolitics

Starmer: "we will protect our critical infrastructure, energy networks & supply chains" You can't get much more critical than the National Grid, and its currently owned by the likes of BlackRock, Merrill Lynch, Vanguard, JP Morgan & Abu Dhabi. When are you nationalising it then?

Labour Minister Issues Slapdown To Tory MP With 1 Devastating Reminder www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/labour...

The first 750 free breakfast clubs are running in schools today. They mean no child needs to start the school day hungry, while offering a supportive start to the day and chances to socialise with other children before learning begins. Parents can also benefit from them... 1/2

"There are voices that want to knock us off course. They would keep Britain locked in dependence on global markets we don’t control. They will make up any old nonsense & lies to pursue their ideological agenda" Ed Miliband attacking those who oppose Labour's efforts on green energy & net-zero.

Why is Starmer still flogging a dead horse? The UK’s wasted a decade chasing a US trade deal and failed twice. It stalled for good reason. British people REJECT hormone beef, chlorinated chicken, and US firms in NHS. And US won’t open its markets in return. www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/poli...

This is happening exactly as the US is trying to persuade the UK (and EU) that its food meets their standards and they should import a lot more of it.

British officials have confirmed a pilot scheme is being considered to deport migrants who cross the English Channel, in exchange for the UK accepting asylum seekers in France with legitimate claims news.sky.com/story/uk-in-...

Musk just gave Russia access to US government computer systems. And Americans STILL don't get what's going on. www.npr.org/2025/04/15/n...

Left: Jacob Rees-Mogg saying leaving the EU with Brexit would bring food prices down Right: Jacob Rees-Mogg saying realigning with the EU would make prices higher for UK consumers

Every time the country starts crawling out of the Tory scum crater, lügenpresse starts screaming “broken Britain” and waving shady polls. They don’t report the news - they manufacture rage. #ukpolitics

More success in the NHS as the Feb 2025 data is released. - waiting lists down for the 6th month in a row - 3.1m additional appointments delivered in 8 months (target was 2m in 12 months) - cancer diagnostic / all clear target met in 80.2% of cases - up on previous months Thank you Labour!

This is why Vance, Musk & the rest of them talk about our ‘free speech’ being under threat while they fast track actual fascism in the USA. It’s a long con & their accomplices are far-right blue ticks with the brains of blancmange.

As unholy a superpower alliance as any modern Machiavelli could imagine is forming. Europe faces being the plaything of Russia or the puppet of the Trump/Vance White House. Brexit isolated us and damaged us greatly. Now, Europe is our brightest hope for a secure future. @bylines.scot

“It took the last government 14 years to break everything... We must be realistic and not simplistic”, writes Labour MP @andrewranger-mp.bsky.social 🔴 Change takes time — but Labour will deliver www.politics.co.uk/mp-comment/2...

MORE THAN EVER BEFORE, UNITY IS STRENGTH! MORE THAN EVER BEFORE NEOLIBERALISM IS MADNESS! Starmer says he wants an economic reset in the light of the Trump apocalypse. He needs to do two things: 1. Rejoin the Single Market and the Customs Union. Not to do so would be an act of supreme folly.

Kemi Badenoch blames more pot holes on electric cars Apparently, increasing number of pot holes have nothing to do with the Conservatives cutting annual road maintenance from £4.7 billion in 2010 to £1.6 billion in 2024

Caroline Lucas, former Green MP & current co president of @europeanmovement.co.uk pointed out Brexit wiped about 5% off the UK’s GDP within the last decade – a figure more than 10 times higher than the predicted damage these tariffs could cause – meaning that we are ‘no better off than the penguins’

Our newspapers are increasingly chasing online clicks through outrageous or factually incorrect headlines that contradict the facts in their stories. Some call it 'rage bait'. Many will only ever see the headlines and be completely misled. This has to change! Please sign my petition.

This is a real exchange I just had:

It’s Farage who attracts them. Doesn’t matter what he calls the party.

Russell Brand has been charged with rape, indecent assault and sexual assault between 1999 and 2005 The charges relate to four separate women The 49 yr old has previously denied the allegations, calling them "very, very hurtful", and saying his relationships have been "always consensual".

We've now ended up with non-tariff barriers on our biggest trading partner and tariffs from our second biggest trading partner. I'm not sure 'benefit' is the word I'd use to describe that outcome.

Tory MP Esther McVey, caught on a hot mic, advocating a full pact with Reform UK, starting with Runcorn by-election. Via Telegraph.

Kemi Badenoch's spokesman says he "hasn't spoken" to the leader of the opposition about her position on Donald Trump's upcoming trade tariffs against the UK. The single biggest global news story this week and they haven't spoken about it

Farage’ll swallow anything Donald Trump serves up — even chlorinated chicken. 🐔 He’s backing a trade deal with Trump that could force the UK to accept US agricultural products that don't meet our standards. Liberal Democrats will always stand up for British Farmers.

Quick reminder: Le Pen wasn't found guilty because the French courts hate democracy. She was found guilty because she broke the fucking law. open.substack.com/pub/iandunt/...

Farage sold them out before with Brexit he will 100% sell them out again Farmers have warned Nigel Farage against undermining the UK’s high standards after he said he would agree to allowing American chlorine-washed chicken to be sold in the UK as part of a free trade deal with the US

Everyone you know, should know who is funding Farage www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/politics/696...

Fewer than half of Britons know how the state pension is funded State pensions are paid out of current tax revenue [correct]: 47% Individuals' state pension contributions are kept ringfenced in individual pots for when they retire [incorrect]: 16% Don't know: 37% yougov.co.uk/topics/econo...

It wasn't mentioned in the Chancellor's speech, but the Spring Statement papers contain a major suite of anti-tax avoidance proposals, probably the toughest ever introduced. Thread:

Nigel Farage desperately trying to get out of a deep hole he has dug for himself. The UK public hates Trump. The UK public hates Putin. Farage is shackled to both of them.

BBC reporter arrested and deported from Turkey after covering protests

The human face of all those bullshit, blue tick Twitter accounts full of racism, lies, cowardice & cruelty…

OBR has to model future migration & effect on population & labour force (inc tax, spemding, growth & fees if any change significantly) Starts with observable fact: immigration down significantly since mid-2023 exceptional peak in net migration (net 900k) or mid-2024 (net 700k) So uses net 258k-340k

Rachel Reeves says she's "not satisfied" with the OBR's downgrade of the UK's growth to 1%. Well, good news! We know a way she can deliver the growth this country needs. 📈 Deep alignment with the EU on goods and services could boost GDP by up to 2.2%.

🤷 Planning reform = 0.4% GDP growth. 💥 New trade deal with the EU = up to 2.2% GDP growth. bestforbritain.org/growth_report

America is kicking out its undocumented immigrants. Unfortunately that means there aren’t enough people available to do vital work. Don’t worry - Florida has a solution! The state is currently looking at lifting child labour laws so kids as young as 14 can work night shifts. Do chimney sweeps next
