Appreciate your input, not a criticism of you
Case series, while useful in some ways, don’t provide rigorous data for Joel’s query
There are no rigorous epidemiological data that I’m aware of that support a causal risk factor relationship between early-life factors like preterm birth and FSGS

This review is useful in that it (rightfully) argues that we need to think beyond oligonephronia as a mechanism for programming of CKD development

It’s a case report though…

Hey @kidneyboy.bsky.social
You hit the nail on the head
There really aren’t rigorous epi data to support a meaningful association, especially a causal risk factor one

Have shared this before, but will share it again as it is related to this point (and it has been helpful for keeping me motivated in these times).

And yes, likely reversed as likely illegal or not permissible as EO, but still. Cuts deep, which was the point. Puts the world on notice

Agree that the metric became the goal (which is a problem)
How exactly do we know that the student aren’t learning the material now?
And, assuming that they aren’t learning the material, does that mean that they cannot become good doctors and leaders in medicine?

Do the current (and past) objective metrics actually mean anything? Do they actually predict meaningful long-term success as physicians and leaders? Or do they (kind of) predict standardized test scores and ability to simply graduate from med school and residency?

It’s not surprising in the least. Long history of AMA not leading by example and being part of the problem and not advocating for solutions

My read on the act: This will likely be challenged in court very quickly, but Trump is going to use every tool at his disposal including investigations, the FDA, FGM laws, etc. to ban transgender youth care nationwide.
It remains to be seen if hospital systems comply in advance.
