I didn't get the tickets in the end, so 🤷♂️

Untrue. I selected $82 face value seats before those screens popped up.
....To be clear, I am in no way defending or supporting "AXS Premium" or "Platinum" pricing. That shit can go straight to hell.

I asked repeatedly to speak with someone and all I got were standard AI automated responses. Worthless.

The food and concessions in the venue are quite good. Most of the food options are stands from local eateries. I recommend a sandwich from Stacked. They also sell Diet Rite, which is incredible. HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL THERE! /thread

There are also lots of paid garages on Austin St. and nearby Queens Blvd. Austin St. is the local main drag where there are plenty of bars and restaurants. No worries about things to do or places to go if you get to the neighborhood early. 6/7

Driving is not the best idea. It is possible, but not easy to find street parking. If you park in the surrounding area near the stadium, it is possible and likely that your car will get booted. You will need to call local security to take the boot off for a fee of $180. 5/7

I think it's a tough ticket now but will loosen up as it gets closer. It's not literally too small for Phish (it seats 14k) but it's designed so that almost every seat is a good seat. It feels small. A windy night will affect the sound high up since it's an outdoor venue. 4/7

*The venue has an agreement with the HOA that shows end at 10pm. It's a hard curfew. FHS is 15 minutes from Penn Station via the LIRR. If you stay in midtown Manhattan, that's probably the simplest way to get there. The venue is a 6 minute walk from the train station. 3/7

Getting to Forest Hills from other outer boroughs is a crapshoot. A Lyft or Uber is not a bad idea, depending on the time of day. An area 6 miles away in Brooklyn can take an hour by subway. The E, M, F, and R trains stop at Forest Hills. 2/7

Absolutely. I don’t even know where to begin. (Getting tickets. Getting tickets is where to begin).

It’s crazy that I’ve been to dozens of shows at both venues and never had that experience. Maybe I’m one of the locals cursing people out?

I would even suggest that JB sucks ass largely BECAUSE of the renovation. But that’s old news.

Jones Beach is inferior to FHS in almost every way. It has more seats and a parking lot. Other than that, give me FHS every time.

Not up to me. It’s Duncan’s apartment. He makes the rules.

Depends on how you navigate. By car? Yes, it’s a PIA to drive around and certainly to park. Take mass transit. Subway or LIRR let off virtually in front of the venue.

Yeah I hear that. It’s looked like that since 1906 and one of the HOAs primary goals is to make sure the neighborhood always looks like your grandma’s. Check out Austin St. or Queens Blvd if you need to party beforehand. Also, Station Sq. allows open containers pre-show (no glass).

I was at Goose. I go to a ton of shows there bc I live close by. Did you notice when you left, that you had to go to your right? That’s one way that the neighborhood is trying to abate people walking around the neighborhood post-show. There aren’t too many residencies between the train and venue.

I assumed you meant Forest Hills as a whole. The stadium was shuttered for decades and reopened in 2013 for concerts. So it’s been 12 years of shows as of this coming summer.

Yes but most FH residents don’t live near the stadium and it’s no longer noisy outside of the immediate vicinity. Cops now linger by the entrance/exit to make sure people don’t litter on the way out near people’s houses.

The noise violations were sated after an agreement in 2023 where the venue renovated it to be more soundproof. The sound is much more muted than it was even 2 years ago. The garbage and fan behavior post-shows is an issue. Still don’t know why you think most FH residents don’t like the venue.

Couch AND extra bedroom. Maybe a parking pass up on eBay too.

“The neighborhood” = a vocal NIMBY minority. Most people who live there love the venue.

It’s bigger than a fine. The venue owners have a deal with the promoters. The stadium exists and operates due to the stipulations of this deal. If Phish were to break curfew, they might help the side that wants to shut down FHS. That would be a stain on their legacy.

FHS is better than Jones Beach for a NYC-area venue. The only advantage Jones Beach has is its size. But that also leads to worse sound. The only public transport there is a LIRR train to a bus. 👎

Quite a few shows went over curfew 2 summers ago so they put the lockdown on it during summer 2024.
