Medicaid is not for sale. NASA is not for sale. The Post Office is not for sale. America is not for sale. We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber them. And they can be overwhelmed.

Since I’ve been getting this a lot - if you feel like supporting me by buying a jersey or something, I would rather you make a donation to Trans Lifeline or The Trevor Project www.thetrevorproject.org

None of this has anything to do with effectiveness, or “lethality,” or promoting “warfighters," or any other buzzwords. It is praetorianism, plain and simple, and it is an assault on our military and our democracy. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

Looking at all those institutions that capitulated in advance, pulled grants or reworded the language around longstanding programs focused on persons underrepresented in science—including the largest nongovernmental funder of biomedical research in the US.

Congressional reporter colleagues hook me up here. Nominees for CJCS and CNO require Senate hearings and confirmation. Are military nominations subject to filibuster? Yes, yes?

King Musk-Trump removed the Black chairman of the Joint Chiefs in the middle of his 4-year tour (without cause) and trying to replace him with a white retired Air Force three-star general who lacks the requisite experience as a service chief or combatant commander. Yep, being Black is a crime.

Correct. They bought nothing with their capitulation except disdain from their users.

🚨NEW: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is planning to fire Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff C.Q. Brown, a 4-Star General and 41-year veteran of the Air Force who flew over 130 hours in combat as a fighter pilot. REPOST if you stand with General C.Q. Brown against Hegseth!

“If DOGE is a federal agency, it can’t shield its records from the public. If it’s not an agency, then DOGE’s tens of millions of dollars in funding weren’t legally allocated and should be returned, some contend.” www.propublica.org/article/doge...

The first reaction to this news should be concern about the future of voting by mail www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...

"Perhaps [the Ukrainians'] spirit will, at this eleventh and darkening hour, infect their neighbors to the west, who will prove themselves worthy of their freedom. Perhaps, too, that will be a beacon to Americans ." www.thebulwark.com/p/european-d...

Every Democrat should be telling this story.

Dark Pence is back.

I did an event in IN a few weeks ago where I said that on 1/6/21 Mike Pence saved the country (for now) by being one of very very few who stood by his principles under maximum threat.

WHO IS THE ADMINISTRATOR OF DOGE??????????

@jvl.bsky.social More nukes ahead: “It is not the case that America is retreating into splendid isolationism. No, we are still taking sides in world affairs. But now we are holding hands with the Russians and the Chinese and opposing the countries to which we have long-standing treaty obligations.”

@samsteindc.bsky.social lays out all the ways that Trump is causing a brain drain. This is America's competitive advantage. Trump is just pissing it away. www.thebulwark.com/p/the-doge-b...

Trump schedule this week: Sunday - attend car race. Monday - golf. Tuesday - golf. Wednesday- golf.

I can’t remember where I read this, but it’s important: Why is it that when people think about traveling to the past, they worry about doing something small that will drastically change the present, but no one in the present thinks that doing something small today can drastically change the future?

I was just an Education Department guy under Reagan and the most junior WH senior staffer under G.H.W. Bush, so what do I know? But if I were an ex-president, and the current president were executing the most disastrous turn in American foreign policy in 80 years, I think I might say something?

71 years old and finally achieving his dream of killing children. Not just some children here or there, like he's been doing, but thousands of children annually, systematically, by destroying one of the pillars of public health, one of the greatest achievements of humanity.

But why should ex-presidents behave more responsibly than so many elites, from both parties and every walk of life, who are diligently keeping their heads down at this moment of national peril? One thing Trump was right about: The foolishness and cowardice of so many of our "leaders."

It continues to amaze me that those who know & have suffered under Putin know who he is & what he does, while too many Americans still believe we can “strike a deal.”

A large portion of grants awarded by the U.S. National Institutes of Health cannot be funded for the foreseeable future because of an indefinite hold on submissions to the Federal Register, according to an email reviewed by The Transmitter. By @avaskham.bsky.social bit.ly/3X8ngz8
