The Declaration of Independence states that governments are created to protect people's rights, and that they get their power from THE PEOPLE. The Declaration also states that if a government is no longer protecting people's rights, THE PEOPLE have the right to change or abolish it.

As an American, it’s fucking surreal to acknowledge that the executive branch of the US is basically declaring war on its own citizens, and may decide to shoot us in the street in a year or so. My husband’s uncle was born in Canada, but his father just missed out.

2008…such a simpler time. I wish we could turn back the clock to those days.

Well, I do that with coffee, which might gross some people out, but so be it.

How about a catdog?

In this case, however, I can see why an organization with a reputation for being a bureaucratic nightmare for those who need the services could be quite effective in being the same nightmare for those who oppose them.

Most jokes are based on stereotypes with a partial basis in a truth that matched the experience of some. It becomes controversial when those with in-depth knowledge explain why the joke isn’t actually accurate; the rest of us just have to recognize enough of it to be funny.

I don’t have a lot of dresses anymore, and the dresses I do have are from years dating back to when I was about 20. I have a size 14 dress in a bin that I bought after I lost weight in college. But then last fall, I ordered a red dress from Coldwater Creek, the one I wore to the Pops concert.

That one was my favorite, but I admit I’ve only read Wicked, part of Son of a Witch, and that one. I really liked it though.

I had no problems, finishing Wicked, but I don’t think I’m going to make it through Demon Copperhead. My friend said it is his favorite Barbara Kingsolver novel.

To be honest, I’m not quite understanding not finishing Wicked. I read it, I enjoyed it reasonably well, although not as much as Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister. I tried to read Son of a Witch at least three times, but the violence of it was too heartbreaking for me.

I realized that it was true, and that I would fight for myself. I still will; I will fight for my children, and the world I aspire to-I will go down fighting. 4/4

Finding beauty & reward in creating, feeling overwhelmed with tasks—normal life. And they HATE us. They don’t think there is any purpose to what we try to accomplish in the world. They act like we aren’t people. I remember when I felt like this as a teen, and I said, “Well, I like myself.” 3/4

And as I felt those tears spilling over, I was struck resignedly with a truth, which is that they hate us. They HATE us. We are women living our mundane lives, listening to music in order to pick grant samples, going to rehearsal, walking our dogs, cooking our food, doing the work we need to do. 2/4

Exactly! How do we know Trump isn’t a child sex trafficker? We don’t! How could we know?

Some news channels deliberately don’t show it; the oligarchs say no. The apartheid monstrosity wants the rich white people to breed while the poor brown people die. Are women people? No, they can bleed and die too—if they can’t produce offspring, what use are they?

And inmates rampaging through the inaugural ball… I hope they don’t take a dump on the floor.

I have since forgotten what “based for” means. 🙄

No, of course we won’t watch that nonsense, but let us know if anything interesting happens.

facebook? I think I can download all my stuff from Twitter, but I’m having an issue with completely deleting facebook because I think it will take a while.

Or a wetted coffee filter, since those are inexpensive and easily acquired. One time in pandemic days, I met a DoorDasher outside during a particularly bad air quality event. I handed him an N95. I don’t know if he used it, but I wanted him to have it.

I find a thin or small wet washcloth inside an N-95 helps best with smoke, but there may not be time for that.

But I just found my Powell’s map from 2017! Dang!
