"Library funding draws less than 0.003% of the annual federal budget yet has enormous impact in communities" @amlibraryassoc.bsky.social has a good FAQ about what is happening with/to IMLS; helpful as we decide what to say to our reps, what to put on our signs. www.ala.org/faq-executiv...

U.S. Attorneys are not the President’s lawyers. They are the United States’ lawyers. You didn’t pledge an oath to a President, you pledged it to the constitution. This statement alone is reason enough to resign.

Faye Wong did a very Buddhism-coded performance at this week's CCTV New Year's Gala, featuring a song that discusses impermanence and an Añjali Mudrā gesture at the end. Makes me wonder if it signals a phase of 休养生息 (cf. Han Yu) in state ideology following the economic downturn.

"Democracy Dies in Darkness" is kinda like "Don't Be Evil" as a slogan. It's a bit worrying when you choose it, but it's a lot more worrying when you take it down

Very tough 5 days to live through. But we're 0.35% done with this vile presidency.

Sinologists and historians, can anyone point me to a good discussion of the history of institutional endowments in China? Monetary resources or endowed land that supports lineage halls, temples etc. over time. Thank you 🀄️📚
