It seems that side of politics in Australia has an unusually high amount of luck. 🤷‍♂️

Or for a more democratic alternative, if your elected government falls below 60% approval rating within it's term then the leaders of said government should be executed.

Sort of the same as Barnaby buying all that land in the middle of nowhere that ended up being in the path of a major government rail and gas line infrastructure project. Sometimes you can be incredibly lucky.

What do you think he should do?

Hey here's a great policy idea for Dutton, offshore nuclear powerplants. Build them at the bottom of bass straight so when something goes wrong it's under water, so meh. 🤣

Literally what's stopping Trump from doing something similar to us? He only has to decide that he wants our minerals and make an ultimatum.

No Dutton admires him because he's a criminal that got away with it.

Hopefully we can get a Labour minority government next election.

This is called bipartisanship where the greens come in is when they constantly vote with the LNP to shoot down Labour environmental policy.

They'd simply parachute him into another safe seat.

Roe V Wade was overturned 4 (Maga) votes to 3 in the Supreme Court. The Maga judges installed by Trump.

Wasn't there some dude in the 1940's who tried this with most of Europe?

Beat them at their own game, dirty tactics all the way.

Great idea, use their playbook against them.

The 26th divides the country because it commemorates the arrival of the first fleet.

Australia Day had nothing to do with colonization and everything to do with Gallipoli. Change the date to something we can all celebrate, remove any reference to the first fleet, cook, Philip, England, make the 26th January fleet day if you want.
comment in response to post
In 1994, Australia Day became a national public holiday for all states and territories.
comment in response to post
Other early celebrations of a national holiday were held on May 24, the late Queen Victoria's birthday. The date of Australia Day changed many times after the Federation of Australia on January 1, 1901. In 1935, all Australian states agreed to celebrate Australia Day on January 26.
comment in response to post
The date was chosen to capitalize on the recent Gallipoli campaign. The event combined patriotism with fundraising. The event was repeated in subsequent years of the war. The date was chosen to create a greater sense of cohesion between the separate colonies.

Australia Day was celebrated on July 30, 1915 as a fundraising event for World War I. The date was chosen to capitalize on the recent Gallipoli campaign. Explanation The first Australia Day was a fundraising event for World War I. The date was chosen to capitalize on the recent Gallipoli campaign.

I disagree, any one of the four other dates would have been preferable. Australia Day was invented during WW1 and not associated with the first fleet.

I'm a fan of Paul Keating but him picking the 26th January as Australia Day was a low light for him.

Trump isn't an alleged sexual abuser he's an adjudged sexual abuser.

The second thing they should have done after setting up a real ICAC should have been the truth in media laws to finally rid ourselves of the vile Murdoch gutter press.
comment in response to post
Correct! If you hoard old news papers or garden gnomes you're considered insane but if you do the same thing with money you're celebrated as a genius. It's the same sickness.

All this talk of the LNP regaining government fully depends on the assumption that they can win back all the seats they lost to the teals. Not seeing it myself.

How's the Cayman island account going these days?

Those are winning policies🤣😆
comment in response to post
Well we did just have a referendum that points to the fact that over 70% of the Australian population are racist so Dutton going full Nazi is good policy from the LNP.
comment in response to post
And this is why a toothless NACC that isn't going after all the open corruption of the LNP is going to cost labour an election. Voters still think the LNP aren't a crime cartel.

We need truth in media law
