Smart. We're imploding anyway, so there won't be anything to see.

This is the problem. Term 1 had competent people such as Gen. Mattis serving as guardrails. Now we have reality TV and Faux News wife abusers/non-profit mismanagers at the highest levels, and an anti-medical science wacko heading HHS. We are doomed.

This sounds good even for home! Beats the pop tarts I usually take on trail, thank you for sharing!

You know … you are right! I only have about 70 miles left and I want to enjoy it. I never imagined myself camping and now I’m out there backpacking - so I’ve already won, and it’s time to enjoy the scenery!

I am seriously scared. trump is appointing yes-men with zero experience or ethics. President Musk has shut federal employees out of the databases they need in order to do their jobs. I feel like we are witnessing the death of the American experiment.

Bike valet services make all the difference. We used to have season tix to the San Francisco 49ers. The Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition proved free bike valet for every game, set up right by the metal detectors. Way faster than driving to/from, and great way to beat the $125 parking fee!

Ah, yes there are those slower-paced books! I’m starting one about getting rid of social media 😅

I’d love to get there! I could shave weight if I could part with internal frame packs but that would put me out of my comfort level

Thanks, just downloaded! I gotta say, right off the bat I do love the search function to find and add gear!

Here's the screenshot! I also saw that I didn't update the sleeping pad I used, so Big 3 weight is about 4 oz lighter than the pic in my original post 😅

Canada looks amazing for backpacking, but - is it Grizzly country? I had a bear hang out just outside my tent in Tahoe and I didn’t sleep 😅 Just black bears in Tahoe, but still scary. So curious about the wildlife in Canada.

I've heard nothing but enthusiastic praise for his designs - so cool that you know him! I love my Zpacks 1-person but I need to get a freestanding tent, just in case I go somewhere that's not ideal for trekking pole tents.

It’s a great tent! I gave it to a friend who was just starting out backpacking and she’s making great use of it.

I was following the Atlantic even though I have a paid subscription 😹 This is how automatic it’s become to “follow” people, companies, etc. Now I’m only following people I know IRL and those with a keen interest in nature, especially hiking and backpacking.

I had posts from the felon and his wife, notifying me that they changed their profile and cover pics. I do not follow either of them, or any republican official - elected or appointed. Led me to set a personal deadline of Feb 1 to get anything I want to save (photos, videos) and leave FB.

Love this - it's essentially my outline for 2025. More music than podcasts, no Facebook, 2 - 3 news sources to read 20-30 minutes daily, and the rest spent IRL with friends, in nature, or sitting in quiet peace.

Yes, definitely doing this next time! I thought the silence would be fine - and it is - but not 100% of the day.

Oh I have hiking buddies but many times I enjoy the solitude.
