I have questions: Where are the airlines in all this? Has any CEO from United, Delta, JetBlue, American, Virgin, etc. made public comments? A recent search turned up nothing. Surely safety is front of mind? Surely they're concerned about a loss in revenue due a loss in perceived safety?

One does wonder why the airlines are being quiet about this, considering that their asses are on the line here.

“Get us out of the UN” “Don’t contaminate our drinking water with fluoridation” As if we had any doubt where Frank Burns’ sympathies would lie.

A lot of highly skilled workers laid off by the Musk/Trump junta who don’t actually WANT to leave the U.S. may be forced to do so just to find jobs. Here comes the brain drain.

No one in Republican world seems to have a lot of curiosity about why Musk needs people’s personal data to engage in government cost cutting

If the SAVE act wasn't meant to restrict married women's voting rights why doesn't it have a VERY clear clause stating that a marriage certificate will insure no married woman's vote is restricted? As it stands it is ambiguous as hell on this matter.

It is not DEI it is DEIA with the A standing for accessibility. A lot of people have disabled family and friends in their lives, yes, including Republicans

I recognize the urge to blame Trump for the recent, highly-publicized airplane crashes, but the fact is that even fatal crashes are not higher than normal. In January 2025, there were 8 fatal air accidents. Jan 2024: 19 Jan 2023: 17 Jan 2022: 10 Jan 2021: 19 Jan 2020: 25 Jan 2019: 23 Jan 2018: 20

Using Kermit to narrate an ad for the SB team Mahomes loses to is diabolical perfection.

I love all my friends saying things like, “I wish I could make a career off being petty and making diss tracks” after the halftime show, and I’m out here like, “Have you considered academia?”

I, for one, am shocked that the NYT would completely miss the significances of a halftime show.

I’m already mad at this solar energy Google Gemini ad

Don’t eat lava. I’ve always said this.

Seal seal. Kill it with fire.

This moment continues to feel like February 2020 for fascism: smart people who pay attention are freaking out, your average sea cucumber-like American is either totally unaware or blithely assuming everything will Be Fine.

Ray-Ban just did a great job of making sure I never buy anything from them again.

That Patman bit should get Fox banned from ever airing the Super Bowl again

Executive wants to frame the NIH indirects cut as $4B in savings. But given that NIH returns $2.5 on every $1 investment, this would actually cost US economy a net $6 BILLION (per year!). Not to mention the human costs of wrecking education and research sectors and the communities they serve.

Please remember something: if you had said a year ago that Trump would do even a fraction of these things, you would have been mocked, belittled, accused of “Trump derangement syndrome,” and dismissed by certain people. Identify those people and block and shun them.

As an airline spouse, THIS

Begging some hero in the Department of Ed to rename the student loan record file folder "DEI training materials" before unlocking the door for the DOGE bros

At the time, ordering a case of fried dill pickle potato chips seemed excessive. But they have come in clutch this week.

Dem orgs contacting prior ActBlue donors to fundraiser off all this are reinforcing how absolutely out of touch they are.

The Weather Bureau (became NWS) chief issued a policy that local offices weren’t allowed use the terms “hurricane” or “tornado”, blocked telegraphs from Cuban meteorologists, and wouldn’t allow local offices to issue their own storm warnings—which had to be approved by him. 6000-12,000 people died.

There are certainly better historians to read. But if you’d like an easily-accessible tale of what happens when you politicize timely communication of science truth, Isaac’s Storm (Larson) about the 1900 Galveston hurricane is a clear depiction of the cost.

Amazon pays no to nearly no taxes. Same with Musk, Bezos, and Zuck. NOT paying taxes is a subsidy. It's policy, to encourage reinvestment. It doesn't. They just delete the money from the economy altogether. But that's the rationale. Billionaires wouldn't be billionaires without subsides.

🛑🛑🛑 I cannot stress this enough: Introducing Elon Musk into commercial aviation safety will be disastrous. Both Tesla & SpaceX have been cited by the US government for numerous safety failings. Pair that with misleading advertising and you see a total disregard for the safety of the public.

Let me hammer this in: -I have endlessly reminded people that US commercial aviation is a *miracle* of cooperative, collaborative safety systems, studied and admired around the world. -What could make me say: 'Start worrying about getting on an airliner'? Exactly this. Musk bros in the mix.

NEW — DOGE now has full access to HHS Payment Management System, I’ve learned. The system distributes almost $1 trillion per year in grants (largest in the govt) and supports all of NIH, CDC + many other public health initiatives. Musk guy Luke Farritor is actively delaying payments to recipients.
