What cannot be lost in all this is that students have simply been demanding their tuition not go towards funding an illegal occupation, nor a genocide. Everything that has come after is a product of the powers that be vehemently refusing to honor that entirely reasonable ask.

It is truly fucking wild how the introductory thesis of this argument is, "As we all know, men will find any loophole they can to be sex criminals and degenerates. My primary source on this is me, a degenerate."

UPDATE: “Why lie? And why bother to cover it?” NASHVILLE Councilwoman Zulfat Suara is not buying that the Tennessee-Palestine Caucus filing came before we asked leadership about its existence, and they had no knowledge of it. Her Post: www.facebook.com/share/1A5Gy4...

Some very keen observations here. Monolingualism as a tool of power politics.

Chinga tu madre

Powerful.

I wrote for Everyday Orientalism about our new Society for the Study of the Past and what it is founded on: everydayorientalism.wordpress.com/2025/02/19/i...

These people are broken. We're gonna need the type of deprogramming they do when people leave cults before it's all over

I mean...

Do. Not. Fuck. With. Dolly.

My latest piece at @thenation.com takes issue with the conventional wisdom that the Dems don't know how to fight Musk's GOP brownshirts effectively. They know how. We know this because they've been waging that kind of ruthless fight against the left for 25 years. www.thenation.com/article/poli...

And there it is. Same holds for activists, writers, "free speech" orgs, arts institutions and everyone else who has been silent for 15 months.

In his mind, this what leadership looks like: acknowledging the pain without doing a damn thing to alleviate it. While most Dem leaders are in their 70s or 80s, this guy came to power precisely because he thinks we are still in the '90s.

Watching senior Dems interrogate such shitty nominees with questions that reveal how much they themselves support imperialism and corporatism isn't making me feel safe against fascism. Sickening.

Nope.

Presidents come and presidents go. Through it all. My fuckin' student loan.

Reminder:

Hard to think of anything more worthless than the Democratic Party right now. Like a vestigial organ that does nothing and may, in fact, help kill you.

It's true that I am likely to burn out a blender every year from here to eternity. But dammit, my hummus is so good that I really think it's worth it!

My Sunday ritual of planning, shopping, and prepping food for the school week has become increasingly poignant the last few weeks.

Here's what happened in Nevada when people did what she's saying to do: thenevadaindependent.com/fact-briefs/...

I've done something similar, except I said, "Ope. My bad."

Solid advice. But Dems will not follow it. They are a dead end.

Yes...and using our voice to advocate for smaller class sizes, particularly as veteran teachers, is something we can control. You can't out-strategize classes that are too big.

All day every day.

unreal and so sad that this article is necessary

Listening to a principal not really complain but act as if he doesn’t know why he went from 400 pre-COVID to 2 candidates currently for positions at his school. Let’s be realistic… teachers are treated like trash. Let’s not act like we don’t know why people don’t want to go into this profession.

Hard truth for the Democratic Party: everything & everyone who led to this, from party leadership, the major consultants, the strategy, to the platform must all go. There must be a total rebuild of the party, starting with funding, then policy. This is a failure.

So glad the wounded soul of our nation has been healed. Otherwise, things would be really shitty right about now.

How it started. How it’s going

Digging through some old things I wrote and found one from 2023, even before 10/7, that argued that Democrats were sleepwalking to 2016. I spent the next year and a half trying not to confront what I already knew, I guess.

What's ironic re Vivek's screed vs mediocrity is that it's basically stock Democratic/centrist stuff of the past 3 decades: the schools are failing, you're failing, your kids aren't as smart as you think they are. Here's the thing: people HATE this, which is why it keeps flopping

Michel Foucault: Even when the Elf is not on the Shelf, you are never free of it. You carry the Elf within you, monitoring your own conduct for Naughtiness. You hold yourself prisoner within a self-surveilled snow globe of Santa’s making.
