I think it began with or even before Reagan.
Read Den of Spies by Craig Unger. A truly frightening history.

There is a cult of ignorance in the US, there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.

I suppose we should be grateful that there is no smallpox in the wild.
That of course was defeated by vaccines, but hey, that was done by folks actually following the advice of medical experts.

Incompetent and disgraceful. I’ll let others decide which is which.
Or maybe they both are.

I’m in the UK. Insulin is FREE as it should be in every civilised country.
It was GIVEN to the world in the 1920s.
Thankfully I don’t need it, but for those who do it should be a free right.

It can’t, because THEY don’t even know what it means.

I’m not sure it’s even that.

In the UK prescription drugs never cost more than £9.60. Over half of all prescriptions are free, because the patient is under 16, or a pensioner or unemployed.
Insulin is free for life.
Hospital treatment is free.
(And yes, I know they’re paid from taxes, but always free at point of need).

Probably didn’t do anything.
Just happened to be female.
Apparently that’s all it takes.

Interesting that insulin was developed 100 years ago and GIVEN to the world by two wonderful people. It’s basically the same drug that is now costing $300 per month in the US and is completely FREE in the UK.

It’s always been about distribution rather than sufficiency.

Possibly because they’ve forgotten about the horrors of the Nazi party in Germany.
I suspect an awful lot of younger Americans have no idea what happened.

Vaccination saves lives.
Vaccination, just do it.

The real tragedy is that he wasn’t lying. He said he was going to do all this. He was told it was going to happen, and he still chose to vote for it.

Probably not able to do that.

The only thing I dislike more than audiobooks is narration by AI.
I know lots of people love audiobooks, sorry not me. It’s a personal thing.

Not entirely sure what you mean. Being an atheist means I have seen no evidence for the existence of any god.
It isn’t a belief, simply a statement of the effect of a lack of evidence.
