The JR also doesn't use screens to call patients on the ENT ward, and so there's just lots of bellowing at folk that can't hear. Top notch slapstick comedy/healthcare.

There's also the consideration of what folks are acclimatised to. I moved from Melbourne mid-summer to Glasgow mid-winter. When you're used to 35c outside, the shock of -5c is a lot. Same idea for UK 32c when we expect 17c.

I have sat in on some shocking and offensive lectures (cf. rape jokes in core physics teaching). They were doing it wrong, and the university was able to agree they were doing it wrong.

I have nothing clever to say, it's infuriating that all this still happens.
I can offer to commiserate over coffee/wine at mmc?

Uhmm, as someone considering my first GRC next year... are they all in the dorm/shared bathroom/no window covering vibe? 😅
(Please, someone tell me the ones in Europe are different 🙏)

I can't access the full article on my phone, but shocking (depressing)that the gap appears so quickly. Is there any comparison against single sex schools? (Thinking of some of the data from the UKs institute of physics reports over the years)

I got to the stage of having bought the fabric following a similar thought process after drinking too much wine and walking across the Penrose tiled patio outside the Oxford Maths institute. I need that as a quilt in my life.
I just need a couple of months spare..

Aye, but correlation ain't causation. Mr John Canada has some thoughts on the angry geese.

Turns out, Canada geese are nothing at all to do with Canada either.

I think that would just be bullying.

I'm considering throwing the whole phone away and just getting a typewriter instead.

Except I seem to only find opticians who feel the need to explain astigmatism to me in really small words, every time 🥲

😅 except we have some schemes with a no and no feedback, we have some with inappropriate feedback and some we can't resubmit to even if the feedback was v good but not quite funded.

Ooh, I always framed that answer around the proposed work being a major focal point of my newly developing research plan and so needs the higher % FTE research time and associated teaching buy out.
I also mumbled grumpily about obliviousness (sp?) to the obvious true answer..but didn't write it.

I keep getting suggested roles at Tescos. Slightly concerned as to what the algorithm knows that I don't 😅

But enquiring minds need to know: which filter is each research council? 😅
