This - could be a problem for the playoff to have byes when there are already 2+ weeks of byes built into the FBS postseason.
Boise State’s previous game was Dec. 6 and they definitely seemed to take a couple drives to adjust to game speed.

Voting for it was fine - just accept that there’s no definitive way to “decide it on the field.”
No one was going around like “Oh, we’re not REAL champions because a publication voted for someone else so we weren’t unanimous”.
It’s a contrived “solution” for what was never a genuine problem.

I mean…there have been at least four bowl games since the 1930s.
My point is that none of the games actually matter. Even the playoffs.
Just recognize it’s a postseason invitational tournament and doesn’t actually determine the best team for the year.

The postseason for decades was “Hey, celebrate your season by taking a trip somewhere nice and warm and play an exhibition game against another team that had a great season.” It didn’t even count in the rankings or championship voting at the beginning.

They were a nightmare if you think that a college national title is super important to only have one of, sure.
If you’re a sane adult, it’s fine.

Nah, the playoff feels like a desperate attempt to convince ourselves that THIS MEANS SOMETHING. But it doesn’t.
It never will truly fulfill us.
So we all destroyed the one unique sports postseason that was pretty fun and chill because money and because money told us this would make us happy.

It’s like their mom shouted “Dinnertime” and they all left the game on without hitting pause.

It’s more “if anyone enjoys it, it needs to be monetized” culture. No one involved in creating the playoff cares about the sport or the athletes in any sense; it’s 100% money-focused.
It’s also a bit of “heighten the stakes of all this because otherwise everyone will realize it’s all meaningless.”

The struggle now is finding something else to work for when you’ve already achieved the pinnacle of existence.

Gotta lead with the fact that it’s a family name and never bring up the real reason until it’s too late to change it.

Carson Wentz has more career passing TD than Bart Starr and more career passing yards than Sammy Baugh, has won a SB over Brady, and has a better career record, TD/INT ratio, and passer rating than Eli Manning. He gets in too, right?

Also, re: TD: Times changed and everyone gets more TDs now. Carson Wentz has more career passing TD than Bart Starr.

Eli’s max comebacks in a season (5, in 2011) a) were never the most - 6 was the record from 1963-2016; b) mean he tied Tim Tebow and Alex Smith for most comeback wins in 2011.
Wow, what illustrious company!

Idk I feel like HOF QBs should have been one of the league’s top 10 or so QBs during their career at some point.

IMO you can take up to two during the potluck. If you’re 30 minutes after the potluck is over, you’re free to take everything but other people’s dishes.

I’d like just once for a band to ask that and take the time to listen to each response. Then never play a song because there’s no time left. But thank everyone and say you hope they enjoyed learning about each other.
And I’d like it to not be me in the audience having paid for a ticket.

I didn’t know salads started adding prizes. I’m gonna get more salads now.
But first I need something that gives me a terrarium with it.

I was gonna say…that map doesn’t have all of ‘em. If you zoomed in, it’d have to show way more (ex. It’s missing the Kroger and the Albertsons I would be going to if I didn’t usually go further to go to WinCo)

Ah, popped back over like Punxatawny Phil, said “looks like six more weeks of halftime” and flipped back to the FCS playoffs.

Who’s that? I’m concerned that googling it may break my own 41-year streak.

Agreed, the most important thing to have in a song is accuracy and specificity in geography.

Why would such a law be needed? It’s weird that you demand that government to tell you which toilets you’re allowed to poop in.
There are often restrooms being cleaned or restrooms with a line and I see people using the other gender’s restroom routinely. Does that need to be a crime, too?
comment in response to

For literally the entire history of gendered restrooms (only a couple hundred years or so), everyone was fine with “go in whatever restroom works for you.”
A party run by known sex offenders demands to inspect genitals at every restroom and you think “these people are here to protect us”?

Even wilder is…the ONE team that held him under 5 YPC, under 200 yards, and to only one TD…somehow wasn’t one of the four teams to beat his team.

While I like Harbaugh and the Chargers, I also approve of the Ravens’ Founding Fathers name-based safety decisions and I want to encourage Hamilton and Washington to become a thing.
Maybe they can get an Adams or Jefferson or Madison somewhere in there too.

But let’s pretend it’s true: The policy, reframed, is: “Let’s 10x unemployment in America, at the same time eliminating the resources for said unemployed people!”
