There never was much for caregivers (see my comment above), so… not instead of. Definitely build upon that safety net that is being torn down as we speak. So angry right now.

What we really needed when my wife was in home hospice was for me to be at home caring for her. But I also needed income and medical coverage. So I worked 30 hrs p/week under FMLA to qualify. I will forever regret losing precious time with her. Our society could do so much better for families.

My dad relies on SSI. As an only child, I, too, rely on his SSI. If these crooks steal his payments, I will have to come up with another half my already-tight income to support him at his care facility. I can’t take him in. Mine isn’t at all a unique situation.

Musk’s team is currently at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). This move comes just months after Musk posted “Delete CFPB” on his X social media platform. The CFPB is now barred from conducting external communications and has paused key operations.
