I’m flying to Panama later this summer *just* to bring back specimens so our non-citizen lab member doesn’t have to. We are fully permitted and have been doing this for years, but it’s different now

I often use a collapsible net without any extra handle, but I also have handle sections of various sizes. Failing that I often travel with a backpacking backpack in place of a suitcase which is also quite convenient for moving between locations with my luggage and accommodates a full length handle.

Enjoy and nurture your mental and physical health, they can be gone in a moment. We all take them for granted when we are young. Know that you will never feel like a real grownup, you just look older but in your head you’re still ~25. The thing you put off until you have time never happens.

Surely even if this is real they don’t want to scrub the word “gender”

Is this even real? Does the government have the power to tell publishers what words they can use?

Amazing. Did yall include any species that are commensal with halictid bees? We have some people working on these nematodes that live a big chunk of their lives inside the Dufours gland of our bees and they’re super interesting

Don’t know what you’re taking but I’m on Lexapro and it took about 8 days before I sensed any difference and then I had to up my dose considerably (I started very low) to get it where I needed it, but it’s the best thing I’ve ever done for myself. Best of luck!!

You’ve just discovered you were emptying the vacuum cleaner wrong your whole life and when you finally do it correctly you find something in there you had been missing for years

Actually, Kim Russel had a set of transects she was working every year for ages in that area, not sure if she still is but 100% email her. Rae has grad students that sometimes do work in the Pine Barrens etc. Definitely reach out

Are you based near Medford? I don’t do a lot there. I primarily just go there to collect one species that’s a sand nesting specialist. I do a lot more work around Princeton. Our lab is more comparative genomics than ecology based though. Do you know Rae Winfree at Rutgers? Might be a better fit

Haha I totally forgot about this. I just tried again and asked it to make me older and fatter. I think ChatGPT is just too horny

I didn’t know about your website before, but as someone who dissects a lot of bee brains I really appreciate it. Thanks!

I have almost exclusively used BioQuip collapsible nets for the last 13 years of collecting and have never had one break. Maybe you’re just too strong? Also, do you have a link for the Japanese ones? I go to Japan a fair amount and have coworkers there right now.
