Do you know what a typical sentencing for this type of conviction would be? Any predictions on this one?

I get that this headline is the talking point, but can we all agree it’s a bit misleading?

Yes! They are the unsung hero of neighborhood establishments

Reframing this (and many other progressive issues) in terms of freedom is spot on

Class A typos here. Definitely makes me believe this person understands con law

Terrible. How do we think they define an “average person” or “reasonable person” ?

This just happened to me yesterday! They came AT me and wouldn’t stop, and had completely misinterpreted my post and refused to back off!

They’d see more of his live events if they chose to cover them instead of just reporting that he’s not getting events. This story is feeding the engagement economy.

Shoot! It’s been a few years since I’ve done it but i could’ve sworn contact info moved over as well. Maybe they changed it or it’s a settings thing?

For the record you jumped in my mentions first. I had just made a tongue in cheek comment about how women would be disproportionately hurt by this ruling.

I DONT THINK THAT. GO FIGHT SOMEONE ELSE!

Until this interaction I thought this site had found a way to avoid this sort of bad faith, personal attack, misinterpretation fuelled interaction. Thanks for bursting the bubble.

I will say, and I truly mean this, that my heart goes out to you. It’s clear you’re going though a terrible time. I’ve had friends go through IVF and heard a bit from them about it. My heart pours out to you and I hope you get the outcome you want, and that things get easier.

Alright I don’t want to let this sit unresponded. Maybe that was the point, it’s impossible to know in 2D. I came in as a “this just keeps getting worse” point. I don’t know why you’re making these assumptions about me, my intentions, or my opinions, but it’s ok.

My interpretation was they clumsily tried to say “healthcare is much more accessible to wealthy people in this country, and consequences impact them less” which is generally true. It’s obvious this isn’t going to be a productive conversation so I’m going to stop here. Wishing you the best.
comment in response to post
That’s not how I interpreted the text I read. Sorry to hear you’re going through this. I know it’s super shitty. Wishing you the best of luck
comment in response to post
Uh, I don’t think I said that and I definitely don’t think that. Not sure where all that came from

In defense of the point underlying their comment, rich people do tend to be way less impacted by this kind of thing

I wonder if/how he’ll use the “rigged courts” narrative to try to appeal to black Americans and other populations with negative opinions of the legal system

Nuance! Sweet sweet nuance! It’s like in the fever dream of the past months / years people have forgotten it’s possible to hold multiple truths at once, have multiple bad guys at once, or remember that this is a longstanding and complex problems with bad actors and bad faith on all sides

Yes and they have consistently operated this same way for as long as they have existed

He’s not wrong but also the “T doesn’t want to be president” narrative in 2016 I think contributed to people not believing he could win which … helped him win Easy to exceed low expectations

On Mac you can also command a -> command c everyone in the contacts app then paste them into a spreadsheet and do whatever

Totally. And not to mention that Medicare and Medicaid are government and set their own rates
comment in response to post
By post-war do you mean Iraq/afghanistan? First time I’ve seen it used for that vs wwii! (Not against it, just interested because it’s a shift!)
comment in response to post
They get paid less by Medicare and Medicaid. The ones that don’t have to accept them are financially incentivized not to

I tend to like this idea as it seems to toe the line of what’s possible and what will improve things. Will have to look into Germanys system!
comment in response to post
Doctors aren’t innocent either, even if their part is largely a result of structure. They mostly get paid per-procedure so their incentive is to overprescribe procedures. Interestingly, this puts them at odds with the hospitals they work in who execute the procedures and incur the initial cost

By debating whether Biden is too old we are once again letting Republicans ask the question. We should instead be talking about how Biden is the most successful legislative president since LBJ

No doubt! I’m glad it was helpful! Thanks for taking the time to engage in this. It’s sad how the media, but also the conversation, gets so fixed on a narrow view of things

This is a fun thought experiment. Kind of a direct democracy move Americans are far more aligned on policy than on politicians or political parties
