It’s nice to see republicans are taking learnings from Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol… “if they would rather die, they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population” Not what most people get from it, but maybe the ghosts of Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, and Eisenhower can visit them.

Because it breaks their fantasy. They enjoy dreaming about scenarios where they can be the hero, where they can hurt others, where coverups and conspiracies abound. The truth, jolts them back to reality, and they’re angry because it took them out of their dream world.

Given the valid concerns about many of nominees, and the desire of the President Elect to avoid FBI background checks on them, why is there not a legal requirement that all nominees must be vetted by the FBI and at least a categorical summary be made publicly available, prior to being confirmed?
