The Bus Services (No.2) Bill is at committee stage Bus stop bypasses (floating bus stops) are being discussed Well designed bus stop bypasses are the best option in some places for pan-impairment #ActiveTravel and public transport #accessibility. Here's why: wheelsforwellbeing.org.uk/disabled-peo...

Transport Experts, coming to the area agree, the A27 - is the 'best rural cycling and walking route' in the country www.sussexexpress.co.uk/news/opinion...

Useful reminder of @eastsussexcc.bsky.social cycle lanes. LTN 1/20 suggests on A2270 (most congested main road in England), it should be 2m wide. In places it < 1m and when overgrown even worse. See how much space in the middle of road is wasted - by design. www.theargus.co.uk/news/2441680...

Surprisingly good article from the 'Crowd Science' podcast www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

Informative summary about close pass reports and the Highway Code, also quoting Duncan Dollimore of @cyclinguk.bsky.social www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/cars/a...

Opposition Leader at #Eastbourne BC disagrees with fellow Tories @eastsussexcc.bsky.social about this cycle scheme bournefreelive.co.uk/wilmington-s...

Reports of this new tactic from @eastsussexcc.bsky.social of writing back to residents "please let me know if you would like your objection to be revoked" with their consultations ( eg cycling in Terminus Road & Seaside bus lanes).

Possible new route in the @eastsussexcc.bsky.social LCWIP as does not cause any obvious tension with drivers

As the author, I’m immensely proud of this report. But mainly I hope people read it and take notice. This is about the rise in ‘fake e-bikes’, and what’s driving it appgcw.org/resources/in...

Heathfield Tunnel was on #sustrans NCN21 ( Cuckoo Trail). Open just for today ( 1st time in 10 years). It always was dark and wet but a great feature of the route

Great Talk from Get Bikery at Lewes Climate Hub as to what we would need to do to make e-cargo bikes succeed in #Eastbourne getbikery.org/how-it-works

Coming up in #Lewes: "Motherload" a film looking at modern life and cargo bikes at the Depot at 6 pm today, Fri 13th June. On Sat 14th June: "Becoming a Cargo Bike Town" and much more till 21st June! lewesclimatehub.org/in-a-jam-fiv...

Fantastic work by @transportaction.bsky.social! That funding is essential! #ActiveTravel @cyclinguk.bsky.social

It's really depressing to read of such abuse. Sad to say, but cameras feel like a must, and report any and all abuse be it a close pass or verbals from a vehicle occupant www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Please complete the @eastsussexcc.bsky.social Seaside Bus lane consultation . It is easy - just one comment box !!. Stress your support that cycling is now being included in the bus lane. ( Always was for St Anthony's section ) consultation.eastsussex.gov.uk/economy-tran...

4 examples of what they have in Hastings but we do not seem to in Eastbourne. Based on a trip today. See Alt text for info

‪Seaside 🚌🚌- The next step in the bus lanes consultations by @eastsussexcc.bsky.social . Much cut back due to feedback. If you want quicker buses. Plus possible Govt funds for electric buses then please support the scheme. There is 1 box for comment consultation.eastsussex.gov.uk/economy-tran...

One of the consequences of the traffic lights at Exceat ,Is going uphill to Seaford, there are now gaps and traffic is bunched🚗🏎️🚌🚛. It is now safer -- but when @eastsussexcc.bsky.social build a new bridge it will go back to being the most dangerous section to Brighton

www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... Unfilled pothole in Groombridge caused injury to East Sussex cyclist, reported by the BBC. Sussex councils' compensation for such incidents runs into £millions.

Educational video by Hertfordshire County Council of how their new Dutch-style roundabout will work, prior to opening the real one next month! Scheme funded by Active Travel England. www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/about-the-co...

Close passes are much less of a problem on the continent where drivers give plenty of space and slow down. It is car dominant countries (like UK, US and Aus ) where drivers think 1m is enough space. IT IS NOT❗

Important research👇 I was one of those who experienced a moment of hope during early stages of the pandemic that transformative change in transport policy was possible. This paper explains why it didn’t happen and what that means for our ability to make the changes needed to address other crises

Eastbourne KidicalMass today with a good turn out and plenty of ☀️☀️ and typically so much 🚗🚗🚌🚛

#BikeWeek2025, the annual celebration of cycling is from 9-15th June 2025. www.cyclinguk.org/bikeweek

"Proliferation of larger vehicles threatens to undermine all the road safety gains being made on other fronts" Analysis of real-world collision data from almost 700,000 crashes shows SUV drivers are more likely to kill cyclists, especially children, than smaller car drivers

Seems to be a lack of clarity locally as to what is a 'legal e-bike' (electrically assisted pedal cycle) For Clarity :- <250W, < 15.5mph and have to pedal www.gov.uk/electric-bik...

This is a good example of @eastbournebc.bsky.social and VisitEastbourne - where for Magnificent Motors - in a large space they decided to put the 🚮bins and toilets 🚽where cycle parking is normally. Same as last year. So now cyclists turn up and have to find somewhere else to park their bikes

Are you getting ready for the #Eastbourne Kidical Mass 🚲🚲🚴‍♀️?

It’s crazy that children walking and cycling to school need protecting from adult drivers but it’s the sad reality so it’s good that our Council plans proper enforcement of School Streets. @livingstreets.bsky.social @cyclinguk.bsky.social yourvoice.brighton-hove.gov.uk/en-GB/projec...

Cycling should be a symbol of freedom. ✊ But unsafe streets steal that from too many, especially women. Women ride half as much as men, often held back by fear. This is about choice, equality, and safe streets for all. 👉 cyclinguk.org/my-ride-our-right | #MyRideOurRight youtu.be/Aka_F5ClZEM

Perhaps we might live longer and be happier too, if certain national newspapers didn’t whip up hate every time somebody mentions cycle lanes, LTNs, or 15 minute cities. @telegraphnews.bsky.social

No matter which local seafront town/city you go to, you are reminded how @eastbournebc.bsky.social and @eastsussexcc.bsky.social have let us down in #Eastbourne Here on Bexhill Promenade, on a sunny Bank Holiday weekend , and no issues

No significant change in cycling rates reported in National Travel Survey out today. It's an uphill struggle to get more people on bikes it seems. Good news is that there are more walking miles recorded. #activetravel www.gov.uk/government/s...

The country is walking and wheeling more Today's National Travel Survey shows trips walked or wheeled up 7% in 2024, compared to 2019🧑‍🦽🚶‍♀️ While average distance was up 13% to 230 miles a year 💪 This is progress as we work to make active travel a safe everyday choice for all
