Without evidence, RFK Jr said, "autistic children will never pay taxes...hold a job..play baseball...write a poem... go out on a date, & many of them will never use a toilet unassisted." This is false. People with Autism do these things, & are in no way lesser citizens. #PublicHealthMalpractice

RFK is committing #PublicHealthMalpractice.

I am beyond honored to be the recipient of this year’s Bernard D. Goldstein Undergraduate Public Health teaching award. I want to extend my sincere, heartfelt gratitude to my amazing students, who give me hope and joy in these unprecedented times.

It makes my blood boil that we have a vaccine that prevents cancer and an HHS secretary that is behind lawsuits against said vaccine, but trying to experience a little joy with this news. Also, a great reminder of why it is beyond dumb to slash NIH funding: apple.news/AaIWRG51tRzS...

From an operational security perspective, this is the highest level of fuckup imaginable. These people cannot keep America safe.

From Meghan O’Rourke in Yale’s English department. Read this and send it to everyone you know. This isn’t a drill. We’re teetering on the abyss now and we need all hands on deck. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/16/o...

It was such an honor last night to moderate the panel for Rescue to Reel, where we heard from members of Freedom House Ambulance service about their experience being the FIRST responders.

Last night's episode of The Pitt featured a storyline about Freedom House ambulance service, highlighting the pioneering work of the Black men and women that paved the way for today's EMS systems.

Just say no to “just say no”

Shutting down the CDC’s flu vaccine campaign in the middle of a severe season—with 24M+ illnesses, 310K hospitalizations, and 13K deaths—while #H5N1 continues to spread and public health officials across HHS are being fired is reckless and endangers lives. www.npr.org/sections/sho...

The most shocking thing about this is that anyone took him at his word.

So this happened yesterday…

If only we had some way of inoculating ourselves against this.

If you haven't yet, check out The Pitt on Max (episode 3 out tonight!). Thrilled that my colleague was able to advise the show, and also grateful for organizations like @hollywdhealth.bsky.social that work with many, many shows to help get the facts right! www.pitt.edu/pittwire/fea...

I have a new op-ed in The Hill on a less discussed aspect of the health insurance coverage delays and denials we've been talking about the last several weeks, and why ERISA reform is needed to deliver the health insurer accountability that these conditions demand. thehill.com/opinion/heal...

Proud to be among the many hundreds of public health scholars, practitioners, and advocates who signed this open letter opposing RFK Jr., which was highlighted by the New York Times. Currently in the @defendpublichealth.bsky.social meeting and we've got a great team to safeguard health & health ins.

The Pitt premiere on the first day of my Entertainment Media and Health class. I started down the path of studying media and health when my sister got me hooked on ER. It’s a total coincidence but perfectly timed!

Epidemiology 101: you cannot increase or decrease your risk of death. Risk of death (at least for right now) is always 100%. This is why teaching #medialiteracy and science communication is so important! @cnn.com please do better www.cnn.com/2025/01/06/h...

The felines and me enjoying #caturday. I got my #covid19 vaccine yesterday (had Covid in September so that’s why I waited), so we had a lazy day. #vaccinessavelives

I’m sorry, but you can’t shop at Costco and be anti-vax. No one immediately needs 48 rolls of toilet paper. You are preparing ahead of time for when you do.
