More than 1 master's so a pretty nonserious person. Still angry at the "it's not airborne" ppl. Mostly delete draft posts. I watch bad teevee. My coffee is hot, sadly it will never jingle jangle.

this isn’t about government efficiency, it’s about closing channels for scientific dissent

America has never been broke. It’s just violently anti-poor. Troops in LA cost $134M — the price of 44 million school lunches. But sure, let’s keep pretending the issue is lazy parents and not a government that eats kids for breakfast.

No, Trump will never ever ever go to prison. Stop it. The purpose of prison in the US is NOT to incarcerate former heads of state or rich and powerful people.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is a clear and present danger to every person in the United States, and in fact in entire world. He must be REMOVED FROM OFFICE IMMEDIATELY.

Why is an economist running the national institutes of health?

Watching the right in this country salivate over violent confrontation and seeking their state violence porn is really something. You are depraved. You're no patriots. You're traitors.

The weird, often whitewashed way the civil rights movement is taught (or not taught) seemed to convince a lot of people that nonviolence was met with nonviolence, instead of you know, dogs, hoses, beatings, death, etc

Having read the full MAHA report, what stands out the most to me, as an epidemiologist, is how inexplicably sloppy it is. The US government collects data on every health condition you can think of, and the report doesn’t use any of it.

The Big Fucked Up Bill, is NOT a spending bill. It’s a government restructuring bill, that consolidates power in the executive, defunds critical services to the point of absurdity, removes the power of our courts to enforce the law and dramatically curtails voting rights. It’s Project 2025

I want to remind everyone that without Elon Musk, we wouldn't be in this situation where our academic institutions, science enterprise, and democracy are being dismantled, and millions of additional people around the world are going to die. We want both of them to lose horribly in this fight.

Answering emails on a Wednesday.

Gooooooood morning! ☀️ Today, we’re handing the reins to ChatGPT for all our posting! Just kidding. We’ll leave that to the college dropouts drafting national health policy with AI and imaginary studies…😵‍💫 abcnews.go.com/Politics/rfk...

We are like six months from them outlawing seatbelts.

Me (crying): Please...I just need to message my coworkers Microsoft Teams Developers: No you don't. You want a Bunch of Bullshit that also changes week-to-week for some reason

It shouldn't be so dangerous to be a pedestrian. abc7news.com/post/mother-...

These fictional representations of scientists really undersell how much time we spend fighting with Word and Adobe.

Lauryn Hill came on the radio and I was like oh yes good things exist. That CD was life. I just forgot. I saw her at Red Rocks. It was wonderful.

Interesting how no police organization is objecting to Medicaid cuts as bad for public safety idk almost like they do not care about that.

“they are *withheld* from us because we’re trans” is unfortunately succinct and correct.

Love to see the President of the United States have another world leader into the Oval Office and show him email forwards. So cool!

Moderna is delaying its application for a BLA for mRNA-1083 (a combined seasonal flu and next-generational COVID-19 vaccine) to get more efficacy data per FDA's demands: investors.modernatx.com/news/news-de...

I really liked the government workers at FAA, NWS, USDA, CDC, NIH, VA, CMS and all the agencies that kept our country safe and strong and smart. I miss them.

To be clear, these kinds of breakthroughs are going to come to a screeching halt with the current NIH funding cuts. This new treatment is only possible because of decades of basic research. What might be possible 20 years from now if we don't destroy basic research? www.nature.com/articles/d41...

Never stopped to think about how gross the word content sounds. Who wants to produce or consume content. It sounds so weird and just devoid of anything.

may as well start steering your kids towards dental school, dental treatment's going to be a huge growth market over the next decade.

I'd just like to spare a thought for the murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi today. Brian Kilmeade thinks America has "moved past" his horrifying assassination. I haven't. And I doubt I'm alone.

Physical buttons are finally coming back to cars. 🤌 It’s not just an aesthetic choice, though—it’s a safety-conscious one. Research shows that reaction times using screens while driving are worse than being drunk or high.

I'll just take this moment to point out that the US Institute of Peace, just a few weeks ago, contained one of the finest concentrations of US expertise on India and Pakistan, and crisis management in South Asia.

On the merits this is just one instance of administrative vandalism among many, but I'm always struck in stories like these by how inexpensive/efficient these legacy government programs are. A year of funding Energy Star is more or less Blake Snell's annual salary. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/06/c...

In between the stories of horrific human rights abuses and trade war insanity I remember that they have also destroyed all our research and data infrastructure and effectively ended any environmental, health, or labor regulation.

hell yeah

If another country cut off our supply of vaccines or unleashed contagious vaccine-preventable diseases on us, we would call it what it is: bioterrorism. Just because it’s a Kennedy doing it to us from inside the house does not change that.

The cops are defunding every major city.

you don’t have to read bad op-eds

I could be wrong about this but I really think most Americans do not want to be forced to “do their own research” about food & drug & product safety and would rather that the government agencies that have been sorting that all out for them for decades not be obliterated in the name of “efficiency.”

As usual every US economic graph is just another way of telling you when Reagan was elected.
