Any org. thatʻs running a conference in the US this summer needs to be be doing everything they can to provide for remote attendance. Travel to the US is unsafe, and you canʻt pretend otherwise. Saying "sorry, weʻre in-person only" is saying "we donʻt care if itʻs dangerous for you to come here."

Two-thirds of both houses of Congress could undo this whenever they want by passing a bill over Trump's veto taking all power to set tariff rates away from him. Tariffs are set by law. The Constitution gives the president no power over tariffs--only our current laws do that.

What Vance is doing here is ENORMOUS disinformation. International students at the undergrad level typically pay full tuition, which subsidizes tuition for American students on financial aid by keeping tuition costs lower. At the grad level, domestic students are harder to recruit!
