I wouldn't want a Dem politician to say that, but the equilibrium where GOP pundits and even high level politicians can constantly trash and demean the Dem base while random lib voters get tut tutted for pointing out obvious stupidity is simply not sustainable.

The problem I have with these sorts of pieces is that they don't acknowledge the role that the press played in spreading Trump's obvious lies. Like yeah, this lady in WaPo thought Trump was going to make IVF free. I wonder where she got that idea...

probably half of the mainstream media was destroyed by Facebook and Google, replaced by social media which *intentionally prioritizes* hysterical lies and conspiracy theories. what remains of the MSM is largely owned by right-wing oligarchs or dimwitted conservative failsons

I’m not sure that’s the issue; it’s more like getting the military to stand by and not consent to being used to shoot protestors, as Trump proposes. Getting the military to stand by the constitution, not the person of the president.

I say this a lot but it's head-spinning if you covered recent Dem primaries closely, when Warren and Sanders couldn't walk 10 paces without someone asking how they'd pay for their ideas.

If, as I hope, the US democracy survives and (somehow) recovers, then history books will judge those working with Trump and Republican lawmakers in the Senate and Congress enabling him harshly (and so should we). If US democracy does not survive, I don’t know what history books will be like.

Additionally, Trump and Hegseth fired the top Judge Advocates General, who are the military’s top lawyers. These are the individuals who interpret law for our commanders, and ensure that we’re fighting in accordance with our values. (7/13)
