It's crazy how different my confidence in getting up/down stairs is with and without my cane. When I've got my cane I can just go up/down quickly, not much care in the world. But without my cane, I'm slow, taking careful steps.

Maybe this is subconsciously why I haven't finished the last season of the good doctor yet...

Anyone else's cat go CRAZY after its used the litterbox 😭😭

I say this with love: use alt text, and READ alt text even if you aren’t visually-impaired. It saves me and other herpers from having to say our pets’ species a zillion times and provides context during slow load times! Alt text makes this place better for everyone, and part of Bsky culture!

this is literally what it feels like to have astigmatism

My other hot take is, instead of spending 10 billion to terraform Mars they could undo the damage from deforestation and clean the oceans here on Earth

Barely looked at the TV for not even like three seconds and knew it was the third Harry potter movie on the TV even before I saw a recognisable character Hate that i still have so much knowledge of this series, and the love I used to have for it is now replaced by sadness and hurt

Cats are very helpful pets when you're blind lmao Misako has taken care of a lot of cockroaches. Her being in hunting mode has alerted me to two spiders (one of which was on the wall right behind me) and a weird bug neither my dad or I could identify.

Would you ever grab hold of a stranger who’s not in danger & didn’t request you to do so? If answer is no, then why do so many #Blind people have stories of this happening to them? If we need help; we’ll ask. Don’t make assumptions & put hands on us without permission🙏😎 #Disabled #VisuallyImpaired

* voice of a guy who's had an anxiety disorder since at least 7 years old * why am I feeling so anxious all day for no reason

oh no I'm becoming "guy who gets a lot of satisfaction from a well made spreadsheet"

Just gave Misako her parasite prevention and now she's hiding :( I'm sorry bubby but it's for your own good :(

I’m nagging! Please, please use alt-text on pictures. It takes just a few seconds & means visually impaired users of BlueSky have the same experience as sighted people. Also, capitalise words in hashtags so screen reading software, for visually impaired people, can make sense of hashtags. Thanks!

PSA for newbies: Please include ALT text on your images. This is an inclusive space for blind and visually impaired people. Don't arrive late to the party and ignore a bunch of people. Also, please share this skeet, rather than liking it, to ensure the message gets delivered. Thanks!

Just an FYI and a reminder. Alt Text isn't like a caption. It is for visually impaired people. A "screen reader" reads the alt text to them, so it should be descriptive text. If it's a verbal meme, you should enter the text of the meme. If it's a visual joke, you should explain the joke.

one of the worst feelings as an artist is when you have lots of ideas for what you want to draw but no time, then when you have the time you have no motivation, then when you have the motivation you have no ideas

Generic descriptions don't convey the information or context sighted users get from the image. Examples like "election results," "group of people," "screenshot from Google," or "city skyline" may be technically be true, but they don't provide information and context.

Post a non-religious photo you think of as holy.

yey im finding other blind people to follow on here :)

Please stop posting text heavy images without alt text. Alt text is used by blind users like me to tell what the hell you're posting about. If I don't knowwhat your image says I'm not reposting it. And, remember, you might be disabled one day too. Happens to the best of us. #Accessibility #A11y

Saw this on Reddit :3

when I ask my family how I was supposed to know something was there and they tell me "looking" like... oh. my bad.

i just think that he

Torn between having "visually impaired" in my bio, so people Understand, and NOT having it because. I so enjoy not having comments about my art like I do irl. "You're blind and you did THIS??"/"imagine what you could do if you could see fully..." To adapt that line from The Good Doctor...
