I think any car's front bumper is capable of folding cats and other small- to medium-sized animals.

Find the memory.dmp file (should be somewhere in c:\windows by default I think), open it in WinDbg and type `!analyze -v`, the output should contain at least some clues about that happened. Sometimes the binary name is enough to know who was the culprit.

Process Explorer
from SysInternals suite can be used to search for open handles by name, I'm assuming power toys do the same thing.

Not after the fact but I found a setting that blocks posting a picture without alt-text so at least I won't forget it anymore. Yeah, we've had them for 3 years now!

Forgot the alt-text and IDK how to add it now. Picture with two gray rabbits chilling on the floor.

Stupid question from an amateur: would it be possible to "just" file a habeas petition in all 50 states at ~same time?

He did not levy excise duties for alcoholic beverages on the water turned into wine, which is a direct violation of Directive 92/84/EEC.

The haircut is nice, but I think the earring may be the dramatic part. π Can you share where you got it?

I'm afraid the right has a new version. Sadly, I don't remember where I got this from...

I think my road trips are a bit more hardcore, I wouldn't want to stop that frequently... π But when thinking about buying EV, I figured that I can always rent a car for a road trip if needed ("don't optimize for an edge case"). Alas, I'm not yet looking for a new car, this is purely hypothetical.

AFAIK, green card holders are normally taxed based on their worldwide income, just like regular US citizens. Source: I had a green card for a couple years, & I don't think there were different rules based on how the green card was obtained. IANAL, this is not a financial advice, chat with your CPA π

This is incorrect, I was in a filesystems-adjacent team at Microsoft. But then they found out I kinda know how to search for things, so they let me go. That's how I landed a job at Google.

Just split ND into North North Dakota + South North Dakota, & use same pattern on them You lose 1 state but gain 4. Same with SD, we're now up to 56. Then do NC and SC one level, we're at 58. [West] Virginia becomes North [West] Virginia + South [West] Virginia. Done!

Precisely! People will drive 3h daily from Seattle to Portland to buy groceries to save 10%! What are you even talking about here? Tax differences already exist, all you want is to surprise people at the cash register. Pretty anti-consumer stance that's trying to exploit people's ignorance.
comment in response to
post
That's why you need to introduce a law to mandate everyone to print the final price. Not a rocket science. End consumer should not have to understand the minutiae of local tax codes and remember that bread and ham is taxed at 0% but ham sandwich is taxed at 10%. Hiding final price is predatory.
comment in response to
post
Well, it would be cheaper somewhere else, what part of that are you not grasping? All you are doing is passing the burden to track tax rates in current jurisdiction onto the consumer. The only case where it makes sense is online shopping, because the tax is only known after providing shipping info.
comment in response to
post
Why? Have each store prints its own label that is programmed appropriately and then you're done.
comment in response to
post
The cash register knows. It's not some arcane knowledge. Just give the label printer the same info.
