Diversity is good.

Americans cant clock generational wealth like British people can. Its mostly about Americans wanting to believe that even they can become Elon Musk and Trump if they work hard enough. That hope needs to stay alive like a pilot light in the American brain.

This is some way for the country to thank this man for his service.

Never in my most pessimistic moments did I expect the response to modern biotechnology saving countless lives in a pandemic to be a powerful elite captured by a conspiracy theory and dismantling our defenses against the next one out of some misguided notion of revenge

By accepting Trump’s anti-Black premise and regurgitating the narrative that equates anything Black as DEI, the NY Times has become part of the propaganda machine

women's magazines: you can have it all! men when you have it all: must be manic.

A friend of mine who works in government helping veterans received an email from a south African billionaire demanding he justify his job to our draft dodging president. That's how absurd this shit is.

I continue to believe that urbanism is not inherently partisan, which is why it’s so sad that the culture wars have melted people’s brains enough to polarize against things as obviously good as active transportation.

I wish more people were talking about egg prices as less of a “muh egg prices!” thing and more about the fact that there is an organized egg cartel that is illegally price gouging and almost certainly illegally price fixing and reaping massive, gigantic profits.

FFS New York Times. They’re not *his generals. Unbelievable

Upon this response, JK burst into a million shards and a great wind scattered her unhappy soul beneath the arc of a newly formed rainbow.

We are in a time where anything can be faked. This is really important to remember. If you want to convince people of your view, make it easy for them to verify its true.

It is insanely obvious that Elon Musk is illegally exercising the powers of a principal officer of the United States in violation of the appointments clause

The way other female conservative influencers are turning on Ashley St. Clair, leaking her texts, and smearing her should be a sign to any conservative woman that a movement built on misogyny will not protect you. That your female peers will weaponize misogyny against you, too.

everyone should be revisiting Chenoweth’s work demonstrating the effectiveness of civil resistance

This is 100% correct — I have heard the Silicon Valley money guys admit as much out loud, about *all* of these fools.

Interesting how papers in other countries aren't afraid to call this what it is. elpais.com/mexico/2025-...

Current status: we're smuggling eggs in from Mexico now. So let's talk about WHY Mexico's egg industry has been stable- while US egg prices are through the roof! 1. Mexico puts people in jail for price-fixing. 2. Mexico lets farmers vaccinate their chickens against bird flu.

“You are on the menu”

"The increase to Musk's wealth since Trump was elected president three months ago is greater than all of the American aid given to Ukraine over the last three years."-- @timothysnyder.bsky.social

Such hostile nonsense from Americans in power just now. I wish we would listen to people who have suffered for reporting the truth, like Stanislav Aseyev, combat veteran and survivor of a Russian torture camp.

Not fresh observation but the idea that “government should be run like a business” is an exceedingly stupid one that fundamentally misunderstands the purpose of a functioning democratic government. Redundancies in the event of any problem occurring are the point, not a failure or “bloat”

Regular reminder that the most progressive place in the world cannot protect people who can’t afford to live in it, and I do not care about your “neighborhood character” as much as I care about that, and it is not close

The attacks on DEI are a pretext for a much more radical agenda of reversing the gains of the civil rights movement, an objective the Trump administration is pursuing with zeal. A Great Resegregation. www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...

good morning!! i might not be around much this morning because i am venturing out into the world, but before i go: it's #SelfPromotiomSaturday!!! i have a glass shop at nora.jewelry! i sell jewelry, game tokens and cabochons (flat-backed stones). here's some of what's available!

“That is why Trumpists are so focused on “ending DEI” in the federal workforce. They see anti-discrimination and inclusion as a ladder of upward mobility for people they do not believe should have one.”

Before it's taken offline, I want you to know about the NASA website where you can learn about the stratospheric ozone hole and check on how it's doing. It has cool movies like this one, showing the growth of the ozone hole during the Austral spring last year. ozonewatch.gsfc.nasa.gov/SH.html

“If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.” A classic quote from Malcolm X, who was assassinated 60 years ago today.

in the trump administration, “merit” is pronounced “white” like how strom thrumond said it.

its amazing the way conservative arguments fall completely apart in court when there are actually penalties for lying

“RESIST. DO NOT COMPLY WITH THEIR ILLEGAL MANDATES.”Judge Ortiz emailed her EEOC colleagues after the anti-trans EO. She told me, “The unknown was not as scary as being complicit and not speaking up. I can exist on cornflakes and community at the end of the day if it means that my soul is intact.”

Why did Hegseth just fire every top military branch lawyer? What did they refuse to sign off on? A Pulitzer awaits the reporters and outlet who can tell the public.

Several good things are happening according r/fednews so I am going to drop them here. If federal workers are fighting back, how much more us? A thread/

“If you had to guess the leading cause of death for children and young people around the world, what would you say? Malaria perhaps? Pneumonia? Suicide? They’re all high up there, but no, it’s road accidents.”

I don't think we're talking enough about the fact that the pressure to remove DEI from science means women die.

With the cancellation of 08-166 the total money "saved" by cancelling CRP projects is $6.6 million. Some of the projects were nearly finished. If you're a transportation person who relies on NCHRP, TCRP, ACRP, or BTSCRP - talk to your peers about this. Silence isn't going to save us.

60 years ago today Malcolm X, el-Hajj Malik el-Shabazz, was assassinated. 5 days before that he gave a speech that included, "We are in a society where the power is in the hands of those who are the worst breed of humanity." www.icit-digital.org/articles/mal...

I wish journalists would immediately go interview the spouse or significant other when a bigot drops information like this. Trust me--there is always a wildly entertaining story beneath the surface.

Someone tell the writers' room the 2025 season is jumping the shark

I've never seen so many mobilizations, rallies and actions, honestly. They're happening pretty constantly, in cities but also in small towns and in every single state. They're not getting tons of coverage, but they're happening, and they're growing. Join one, or start one, you're not alone in this.

the fact that this is just a straightforward retelling of yesterday's events without hyperbole

Andrew Cuomo is a fucking monster:
