I'm glad to hear that y'all have found a good way to approach this new chapter of your lives, and wish you both the best as you both pursue your happiness.

I like to loan out two of my screenwriting books (Truby's Anatomy of Story and Akers' Your Screenplay Sucks!) since they both talk about fundamentals and 'hard rules' that contradict each other at times. Everyone's writing style is different, but the stuff in those books is great for your tool belt.

Fleshing out the script for a story is so important and yet so neglected. You can have awesome visuals, great actors, and amazing music, but without writing that keeps people glued to your story, it won't be as successful as you'd hope.
Workshop it with people you trust!

Honestly, I'm planning on totally cracking and getting really into building a fleet of drones to steal unprotected crops at night.

Please keep talking about the need for major healthcare reform. Last month started a dialog that bridged the political divide that people like me and their families need so badly right now. We don't want to be left to suffer for the sake of profit margins, and we're scared of what's on the horizon.

Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act are both under attack by the current president. People like me are on the chopping block, and without treatment, I'm at high risk of becoming completely unable to work. I would have lost my large intestine as a teenager if the ACA didn't come in when it did.

I never wanted to make my current medical situation public, because I still want to work and don't want people to think I may be unreliable in regards to what I can still do. However, I am looking at a situation that may leave me stuck in bed and in agony for at least a month, at best. Again.

I lost my health insurance through no fault of my own and have to jump through a bureaucratic nightmare to get it back in about 3-4 months at the earliest. I'm struggling to find any affordability program I qualify for that still has open enrollment, and the work I CAN still physically do is scarce.

Look, as long as you don't eat the cotton candy in my walls that keeps me warm, you can stay. For now.

Ahhh, that's what I thought. I didn't realize it would have that much of an effect.

I can't save you from your own creation when we're in the same boat, friend. I will only enable you. I'm sorry.

Stories like this are what people need, especially with current events leaving a lot of trans & other queer folks feeling vilified and invisible. Making something fun that helps them feel seen and understood is important - as is your own self-expression through it to speak your truth. DO IT.
