(My brother-in-law is a pilot and reminded me that it's a busy flight path along the shore ((logic)) but there were def. some slow moving lights that looked like drones to me!!)

I think there's plenty of evidence to show that just the number of drones can be a hazard to aircraft. Something's not adding up here. I live in the Midwest but saw the drones live on a NJ beach cam last night - crazy!
