PROCESSED MEAT vs LEAFY GREENS Study of about 500,000 adults found 1 daily serving of processed meat linked to 44% more dementia risk (Zhang et al., 2021) Compare to those who instead had greens. They aged cognitively as if brain was 11 years younger than chronologically (Morris et al., 2018)

ALT MED FOR BLOOD SUGAR One to two TBS of apple cider vinegar consumed before a sweet treat helps moderate blood sugar swings and insulin response. It can also be taken w/i 1 hr past sugar consumption to moderate blood sugar spikes and avoid immediate fat storage for those with insulin resistance.

AFTER AGE 60 Increase of LBs is not inevitable. Metabolism slows with age but wrong diet and lack of exercise typically are bigger reasons why scale number rises after 60. Answer is to be active, resistance train to build more fat-burn muscles, and be careful of what you eat. MOVE IT TO LOSE IT!

HERBS & BIG PHARMA Natural herbs can’t be patented so most pharma drugs try to isolate herb’s active ingredient to chemically reproduce. Problem is herb has synergistic elements and isolating components often creates bad side effects. Choose natural if possible to minimize side effects and save $.

ROSEMARY If thinking about herbs, it’s comparable to BHA and BHT for antioxidant power to preserve meat. When mixed in food it might prevent food poisoning by retarding spoilage. Helps prevent infection when placed on wounds. It’s an anti-viral (fight colds). Also a natural supplement in recipes.

HOMEMADE LATTES Healthier, safer and high cost savings. Bought an espresso machine a few years ago that paid for itself after one month. Favorite coffee bean is toasted coconut flavor. When buying on the road it is brew or drip only. (Brand on this coffee ad has been removed)

NOT A VEGETARIAN BUT,… as a former macho redneck, enough reading and education made me realize that I needed to change. One of best life decisions I have made albeit not easy initially. At age 74 (2022) gave up red meat due to cost, neg health consequences and high harmful impact on environment.

BPA Many cans are made with BPA (bisphenol-A). BPA leaches into the packed foods especially high acid foods like tomato soups or sauces that intensify the reaction. Buy soups or sauces in glass containers or non-BPA cans to avoid exposure. Support efforts to ban BPA. SAFE REAL FOODS!

MEMORIES Multiple foods can help but many believe it takes a long time to improve brain health with diet. Think again. Review in Biomolecules journal states that eating blueberries, high in powerful compounds called polyphenols, had peak memory benefits at +/- 90 min and again at about 6 hrs.
