It’s hard to be the survivor. Life is real different without them just breathing in the other room. I hope your grief has changed into to your happier memories. They are so woven into our lives.

Charlie! What a sweet face. The news sucks but my cat frens ease the burn.
I’m blessed by great neighbors and my 🦋clan. Maisy and Skitteryboo are keeping my lap full. Spousie was able to talk on the phone today.

If anyone wants the homeschooled kids’ side of this ugly story, Reddit
r/HomeschoolRecovery is an eyeopening resource. These kids are left in a terrible spot as young adults. Many of the parents make no efforts to teach.

My bathroom is *purple*. We mixed that with leftover white to paint a bedroom, figuring on a lighter version of the same color. Nope, it turned out a darker smoky grape color that almost makes me swoony.

Me, too. And the many shades of teal captivate me. Makes me wonder if if those colors tickle my brain just right and induce a teeny buzz.

Thanks my friend, that’s a good way to look at it. I’ve got a lot of neglected yard work to keep busy with while I wrap my mind around it all.

My fam is very long lived, but I haven’t seen any enjoyment of life after 90. My mom was ready to go and it was no secret. She’s start her bid with “You’ve had to have cats put to sleep, haven’t you…Isn’t there anything you can do for me?” She was a Dr Kevorkian fan back in the day.
Good luck🍀

Thanks, cos that’s the hard part. I made a middle-of-the-night list of the things we couldn’t do anymore that made it unsafe. When my mind spins out, it calms me down.
I just 🙏that they can find the right meds to keep the pain and fear away. And that they are kind.

Apply wide clear tape everywhere she scratches. It doesn’t show much on the furniture, but her paws will slip off and she’ll hate that. Get all the exposed corners. In about 8 weeks, you pull the tape off. Voila!

My aunt wanted to come back as my mom’s dog. She made that dog milk gravy every morning. 😂

Carl is one fine guy. My mom always said ‘Old age is not for wimps.’ She lived to 94, so she knew what she was talking about. 🫶

Thanks Robin. Skitter and Maisy are taking good care of me. Lap isn’t empty for more than a few minutes and sometimes they squeeze in together.

Thanks, friend. We could have possibly rode out the dementia, but the paralysis made it too dangerous to keep going. It is taking a while to find a place that can cope with both issues. 🤞

I’m looking at all the sickroom supplies with my downsizing eye and thinking i’m no spring chicken myself.😂Maybe hide the patient lift among the cat trees. Maybe turn the spare room into a sick room.
If i keep stuff, i end up never needing it again. Get rid of it, i need it the next dang day. 🤷♂️

Thank you all for being here for us. It’s more comfort than you know. Making me laugh, seeing our kitty friends like Tess, Bobcat, Cricket’s transformation, Baby Ralph and Ruby and Bernie the Dog Down Under…and so many more. I wish I had a better update.

My dear #Minterland friends, I’m devastated yet OK. Gonna keep on breathing in and out. Keep on taking one step after another. Got plenty to keep busy with, as the Spouse was always the Calculator and I was Spellcheck. Going to do a major downsizing.

It’s a heartbreak when you acknowledge that you can no longer keep your loved one safe. We’re looking for an appropriate nursing home, which takes time.
It’s going to take time to adjust to the new altitude. There’s plans we didn’t get done that I’ll try to finish.

The dementia has become severe. We had 2 good weeks at home before there was a rapid slide with hallucinations and big mood swings. Couldn’t leave the catheter alone, refusing meds, paranoid.
Hit me like a ton of bricks during a tornado warning, that we couldn’t move to shelter in the hallway.

The Cash version adds an entire new dimension to the song. As one who cherishes songwriting, I have to say in this case the cover exceeds the original by a mile.

It’s also hard to source tomatoes, corn, green beans etc by the bushel. Those days are gone even in my rural area. You have to grow a big garden to have the vegetables to can.

Padlock the door and board the windows
Put the people in the street
"It's just my job," he says "I'm sorry."
And draws a check, goes home to eat
But at night he tells his woman
"I know I hide behind the laws."
She says, "You're only taking orders."
That's how every empire falls.

This is delightful! My mom bought a marijuana necklace thinking it was a maple leaf at their tiny town carnival. Dad knew what it was but didn’t want to tell her. So my 80-something mom was wearing a pot leaf to the store and library. 😂

I had 3 one March, too early, and they got snowed on. They stayed almost a week, and I hung an extra feeder for them. They were amusing, hanging upside down and being comical. We don’t see them often here in Indiana.
