defy the norm. get even stranger. NO SURRENDER

index cards come in a pack of 300 for like $5 and you can even write notes on them with a pencil

oh good, it's going to be one of those days where people ask questions and then don't remotely listen to the answers #librarylife

I've been doing this since the election—it was the only thing I could think of that actually *matters* to the powers that be that I have complete control over in my day-to-day life. It has become strangely, satisfyingly addictive? I'm so happy to see it (hopefully) becoming a larger movement.

reposting with alt text (but plz note that it says small business okay! and try to use cash!)

related, i think social media should have a feature that when you mute/block someone, you can add a lil note that only you can see to remind you why you muted/blocked that person

Man.

goddamn it

Oscilloscope aren’t on Bluesky so I’m dropping this here as they’re still the boldest company in the biz. Go support them. store.oscilloscope.net

Absolutely incredible article on how female indie filmmakers are shaking the horror table with body horror! www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie...

Fish Hammer For when you need to beat the carp out of someone.

this is my shocked face

At Cabaret yesterday, Cliff said his line “…if you’re not against all this then you’re for it. Or you might as well be”. The audience interrupted the scene to applaud that line so strongly it stopped the show. Doing a show about the onset of fascism right now is. . . chilling.

time to re-post my fave dreamboat pic of baby walken

May I offer you a perfectly borbalicious bird friend in these trying times? I believe this is the roundest bird I have ever photographed. #birds #borb 🌿

our new favorite market basket cashier called Josh "toothpick Johnny" this weekend and it feels like a nickname that's going to stick

It's the time of year where my skin has exactly 4 states: 1. A thousand tiny stinging cuts 2. Incessant itch 3. Lizard 4. And...for the 30 seconds immediately following the application of hand cream - SLIME MONSTER

Horror is political. Don't be a clown.

Collective bargaining, but you get up at 3am to feed the cats so you can sleep in till 7.

The point is *all* films - whether consciously or not - are in some way necessarily "political" by default, just by virtue of being made in a specific culture at a specific time and in a specific place. There's no such thing as culturally (and thus politically) neutral filmmaking - its impossible.

french pinup artists were on a different level

⚠️EAGLE SEX ON TIMELINE

I take it back, despite all my efforts, hbo max will not play this movie for me even though it will load up anything else I click on ughhhhhhhh

woke up feeling like utter garbage, so have collapsed on the couch to finally watch The Killing of a Sacred Deer what could go wrong, i'm sure it won't be stressful at all

20 minutes in, and i want to throw anton down a well

Criterion Channel has a gorgeous series up called Argentine Noir. Six stylish, twisty Perón-era films. I love 1950's B&W films with Expressionist lighting, social commentary and complicated psychological mayhem and these movies have it all. This still is from 1952's "The Beast Must Die". #filmnoir

fred macmurray as BEEFCAKE i'm 30 minutes in and he was shirtless and sweaty for a good chunk of it and NOW claudette is having sex dreams in which he's flying around in a kind of superhero ballet number unhinged

fred macmurray gets away with way more than he should in this movie because he's so gd cute

Your last saved celebrity pic is your therapist. (oh no)

borgasm

you're looking for common ground with the folks who ordered this like, WHY

seconding this recommendation, finch is a delight (and the only tracker app I've used that has eased stress rather than creating it)

slow start to my movie-watching this year, in that i only watched my 10th one this morning and what a movie it was why do I love movies about families being assholes? almost every interaction between Kidman and JJL went from brittle-but-trying to frustrated-and-contemptuous and it ruled

guys this movie is sillier than face/off and like face/off is pretty silly
