Looking at these prices I assume you win one charm per game

First and foremost though the cost has to go down. A 2/3 TAO or 2 Cost Mandala should be explored first. The process is so involved and demands an off-curve play I think such a clear move is needed.
comment in response to
post
But even with Hand you run into the issue of playing TAO and playing Mandala don't generate cards so you are slowing the direct path to success, getting as many generated cards on the field, down
That's not even getting to the fact she can never really be a surprise card
comment in response to

That means the effect has to carry extra weight & there just aren't many great cross locations Ongoing effects
Cbro is one but it remains a fragile deck & you can only play C5 (maybe C3). V Hand works the best bc you can also copy Quinjet and there are usually tempo fillers to use with the Mandala
comment in response to

TAO just requires too much process to work. You need cards to change, you need to play her, you need to play the card to change into, you need to play the TAO. That's a lot.
To be able to play enough cards to change you are usually playing cards that are nothing special power wise.

Where is she now?
Some C-5 and V Hand decks.
Future homes / Synergies
Almost no Ongoings are coming in the next two months and no cards that create cards on the field. So nothing unless Mole Man's rocks give her some good targets.
Need/Should/Wait
WAIT.
comment in response to

Anything real good?
No. Cerebro-5 and V Hand work but neither decks are quite strong enough and it's not clear TAO should make the final cut anyway.
Anything not work?
Basically anything with high cost Ongoing targets. Spending energy on TAO and on that left it all on set-up

"You never saw my Leader coming!"
No I didn't because I literally do not care what you are putting down on the other side of the board as long as it doesn't effect me slapping down whatever I need to clear my missions.

Is the problem with the world today that kids don't know enough about the original Frightful Four? That kids don't know the name "Paste-Pot Pete"?
Yes. Yes it is.

Mercury : Meta Staple. Immediately paired with Cannonball for a devastating effect. Move once is underrated as well and keeps opponents guessing where the hammer is coming.
(Will this be the last time I note this should have been the Trapster's power? NOPE. THESE JUST MAKE MORE SENSE PEOPLE)
comment in response to

Hellion : Underexplored or just not that good? General sense is the latter. "One-sided Cloak" is good but "One-Sided Cloak that costs 3 more than Cloak and has less payoff per energy" is not.
(Will this be the last time I note this should have been the Wizard's power? NOPE)

Nicholas Scratch :
A big meh, cut from even Merlin/Agamotto decks because he's only really useful when put out early and when you play 3+ spells. Everyone assumes he'll eventually be Ongoing, and that will be better even if that means he's a 1/1

Me: Not angry. Disappointed bc while SD never cared about players being collection complete, it seemed like there had been an internal fight btwn the "well if they play enough they can do it" & the "only if they whale out" crowds & the latter has won
If I play a game I want to play the FULL game

Creators : This & the Fantasticar represent a massive shift in game economy & to introduce things like that with no attempt to talk to anyone playing the game is dangerous because of how competitive the games space is and how fickle players, creators source of income, can be. Also it's bad form.

My problem is I only get cards. That’s it. So I can get the credits then… pull for Cobra?
comment in response to

I also have very low interest in cosmetics. Borders, variants, splits ,emotes, avatars... I just don't care so if I can't get a card I'm kind of getting nothing.
(I don't think these are the same reasons most people are upset though)

so for me my enjoyment stems a lot from feeling like I can explore every aspect of the game. So I read "we used to get 6 machines we all could use. Now we get 10 and we can use 8" I don't see 8 > 6. I see 80% < 100%.

The players expect a free card. They didn't get one. They got mad. SD said too bad so sad. They got madder.

And done

I understand the confusion and the UI is terrible but it should have been cleared up with the first Volts they got on the track when they got 1000 not 4500
comment in response to

Nope but only bc I was using this month to check gold/token appreciation/depreciation so I had to let some good value token buys go.

Mid mad
comment in response to

Easier to understand if you think of them as "amenities". The game is a service, these are the things that come along with the service. Now it's less things, like finding out your gym no longer has towel service. Some people might roll with it, most probably would be mad bc of expectations set

I would say any standard super hero based comic book is centered around the character art.
comment in response to
post
There is a lot to like about his art, I can't deny that but at the end of the day the basic look of his characters does not appeal to me in the least and as that is the focus of any comic book, it's something I can't get past to appreciate the composition, design, etc.

For better or for worse, for Second Dinner and for the current player base, it will be a different game and a different player base at the end of that type of change.
comment in response to
post
I'm not here to say that this is bad or good. I'm saying if that's the case then the player base's expectations will have to shift accordingly. Likely some, who valued the ability to get nearly every card, will leave. Others, who valued the feeling of value from season passes, might become F2P.
comment in response to
post
That would be that Snap's future is one where they are going to create a lot more cards and if you want to keep up with all the archetypes then you will have no choice but to spend a lot of money. It's likely that if you want to keep up with more than a few, money will also have to be spent.

This all makes the next Sanctum Showdown very interesting. It shouldn't be as generous as the last one, getting up to 5 cards for free was great but I can see that is not what they would want. But if it is markedly less generous then we would very much have to understand what we're being told
comment in response to
post
This is more shocking after the generosity shown in the original Showdown, after the gov't shutdown, & finally moving on from Spotlights
That is what Second Dinner needs to address because along with the adding of a second card to Super Season Pass that is the story now being told by their actions.

In regards to card acquisition, they have created in HV OD the most expensive and most exclusive LTGM they ever created have by far. That is the true problem. It suggests a more expensive, more exclusive future. That is what the reaction is about. The player base does not want that.
comment in response to
post
Also every card in a LTGM has been available shortly after the game mode. Typically it has been a week, though for the last shop we had it was a couple of days and after Cassandra Nova it was 2 weeks so nothing was set but expectations would be 2-14 days. It is now 30 days. Another big departure
comment in response to
post
Every LTGM still earned us a card with some level of grinding the mode. This one does not since Cobra is not guaranteed. There isn't a reason for this other than a desire for some gold to be spent. That's a big departure from expectations. This hasn't been brought up enough & hasn't been addressed.
comment in response to
post
So one problem was the failure to communicate that to us beforehand. We only knew LTGMs as ways of getting cards for free. Now it wasn't for Kid Omega. Even if for an explainable reason it was a surprise. So yes, the problem was communication.
But it isn't just that...
comment in response to
post
That's not to say I like it or agree, but there's a logic to it. They offer you value X from LTGMs. That isn't enough for a s5 card but if you apply it to a s5 card it would look like a discount.
Ok so if that wasn't the problem then what was? Here's where SD gets it right before getting it wrong

I’m tempted to move more f2p given the tone of that reply and the reading btwn the lines on where the game wants to be. Leave? I guess eventually when my resources can’t keep up with where I want to be.
comment in response to

I thought so but I’m not that sure bc what was/is supposed to be in Sanctum?
comment in response to

Again put Cobra at the end of the track and never put KO in the shop at all and no one is saying anything.
comment in response to

And the player base’s expectations have been set around that. That’s my situation. I don’t want to play a game I can’t explore fully. That’s why I play Snap. If it changes so that’s no longer the case I’ll no longer play
comment in response to

I think their belief is (1) you can obtain all the cards you want in the archetypes that interest you & (2) their constant adjustments will ensure archetypes are generally competitive
The conflict arises bc the game has been much closer to you can obtain all the cards you want overall…
comment in response to
post
I believe It was intentional to make it clear more paying for cards and more time-gated cards are the future as part of a “more cards overall” philosophy.
comment in response to
post
Oh I think you could remain high infinite competitive in general for a long while but your choices of competitive decks would get smaller and smaller
comment in response to

Season pass buyer for nearly two years. Was leaning toward going along with the plus pass. Now leaning going to f2p until I run out of resources.
If I wanted to play a CCG where I can’t have all the cards at a reasonable cost I have lots of choices.

Like someone was screaming “I was promised we’d try this LAST SANCTUM. We’re doing this!”
comment in response to

Yeah & I agree exploring how to get more $ out of players is fine. You just have to adhere to the basic framework you set up.
- A free s4 for a moderate grind each game mode.
- Coupling cards behind a time-gated paywall with generous resources
What happened feels not carefully decided but forced
