We chuckle every time. And I always say aloud to the room when playing my wife, ā€œSheā€™s done me in.ā€ :)

Loved watching this, Joel. Thanks. Your suggestions and reasoning were super interesting. Even whenā€”especially whenā€”you werenā€™t sure yourself.

I tried Patterns at BGGcon. I liked it and want to try again, though I prefer Mandala.

To continue to reminiscence...to find more than one half-shelf of hobby games we had to drive to another city to find a proper Game Store. Sacramento had one in Birdcage Walk (outdoor mall). They also had Viking Hobby. San Francisco had the best of all, Gamescape. Still there. www.gamescapesf.com

That was an awesome store! I had two high school buddies from Lodi who went to UC Irvine, so we visited the place. In fact, one friend Sean worked there. This would've been ~1986.

There are no photos of ā€œmyā€ shop online, and it changed into something else decades ago. That pic is from ANOTHER Hobby Hut that looks so similar, and closed in Fargo, SD in 2022. As a grade schooler I did the plastic plane models. By Jr High I moved to Ogre, GEV, and The Fantasy Trip

Thatā€™s fair. Iā€™ve only played it a few times, but probably more than a hundred online (turn-based) at Yucata. Itā€™s a great 2-player strategy game in that format.

I donā€™t know of a way, and I wish there was one. Iā€™m in the same boat. Iā€™ve ended up Muting some people I like to follow, but with so much reposting I canā€™t take it.

Hey cool! I picked up Founding Fathers myself at a used game marketplace earlier this year. I remember liking it on Yucata.

Be sure to match three symbols, have enough wooden train tokens, and go for some unplanned walks. Letā€™s Go! šŸ‡ÆšŸ‡µ

An oldie Iā€™ve kept. Would love to get Ausgebremst back to the table again.

Wow, Bill, that's a lot of Texas! When did great-grandfather go there? šŸ¤˜

I think Martinā€™s scoring (more for French cities) puts a thumb on that scale. If both sides develop, France (usually) wins. Why do you think he did that? Maybe just game balance, but maybe with a thought toward global imperial economics beyond the actual game & map. Iā€™m not sure.

I like doing that as the French, too. The Brits have to see that coming and fight!

Oh, waitā€¦you BOTH have forts. This will force Britainā€™s hand to the military.

Oh, thatā€™s a cool play with the French focused on Settlements while the British expand west to Oswego. I predict raiding comes next
