This is from The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson aired on May 20th, 1977. Carl Sagan says something very important, a strong message that didn't lose any validity since then.

Another round of classics today from the same batch as yesterday. 4/30/25 — Open 6-9p. Mask recommended. No open drinks, please. Others from this batch sold last night before I had a chance to share them. If you suffer FOMO, there's good reason to stop in often for 1st shot at new additions. 😉👍

6 classics by writing women. 4/29/25 — Open 6-9p. Mask recommended. No open drinks, please. I wonder if I can muster enough for a regular feature... Weekly/Monthly? Consider this the first #BonnettsLadiesNight! Yes, just came up with & not on my best game at the moment. Whattaya think?

“Information is not partisan. Facts and truthful things are not partisan,” said WYSO's GM . “These are institutions that need our support and our protection, because institutions can be eroded, and the free press is an institution in this country.” daytondailynews.com/local/wyso-t...

My little brother, Greg "Big Bon" Bonnett, passed Sunday morning. The other dated individuals are Grandpa & Dad (Harold & Walter). R.I.P. It isn't hard to guess which one Greg is; in his prime, around 1994. Tonight's shop hours, if any, remain unclear. Stay tuned for updates.

This Sunday May 4 marks 55 years since the Kent State Massacre. I just signed 3 boxes of books for the Kent State bookstore and their author event on May 4. I’m not comfortable signing books on the day, but if you're attending, you can get them there. It’s always an honor to be asked to sign them.

Happy A L I E N day. 4/26/25 — Open 6-9p Mask recommended. No open drinks, please. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy says "bring a towel." ALIEN says "bring a cat." They are not interchangable. We suggest at least one towel for each human, feline, or hybrid on your journey. ~ Thank you.

My artwork will be at Gem City Catfe now thru 4/30!!! 30% of every painting sold goes to help support local cats in need! Gem City Catfe is an amazing local organization that works with Gem City Kitties to create a warm environment for cats and people to interact #art #cats #adopt #gemcity #dayton

It's the weekend. Have fun. Try something new & different. Explore—respect boundaries. 4/25/25 — Open 6-9p Mask recommended. No open drinks, please. All 6 of these take a walk on the wild side. Irvine Welsh was bold, leaving his name and the title off the front of "Ecstasy." Fresh books, out now!

Do you have an hour to kill? Take 10-12 minutes to grab your choice of refreshments & set up your audio; then click the link and fill that hour with this haunted & haunting story-within-a-story about real-world & supernatural horror, set in the Civil War South.

Bridging the gap between a horror convention like HorrorHound and a punk-centric music festival, Halfway to Halloween Fest distills the witches brew down into one packed night, into a micro festival. April 26 at @yellowcabtavern.bsky.social. www.daytondailynews.com/lifestyles/f...

My daughter’s band is actually touring starting tomorrow. If you live in any of these cities, you should definitely check them out.

Friendly reminder to support your local independent bookstore this weekend! A slightly less friendly reminder to just not buy books from Am*zon at all.

From irreverance to introspection and everything in-between; here's today's sampler of new additions. And, Happy 59th Birthday to my brother, Greg, Big Bon, the guy many of our way-back customers remember at the front desk. 4/24/25 — Open 6-9p Mask recommended. No open drinks, please.

This little purple tome was featured during a signing here at #BonnettsBooks by it's author @blackartwriter.bsky.social a while back. A pleasure all around! The link has more info & I'm sure Janyce would love a follow if you'd like to see more of her creative endeavors. 🙂👍

When sharing a book or armload here, it's a distillation of goings-on bts. One shown = multitudes unseen. Many are fascinating but not photogenic. Others may violate TOS. Sort, prep, price, shelve, repeat. Wanna see what you're missing? 4/23/25 — Open 6-9p Mask recommended. No open drinks, please.

Released 43 years ago today "Know Your Rights", a single by the Clash from their album Combat Rock. The Clash-Know Your Rights Live !! US Festival 1983 #punk #punks #punkrock #theclash #knowyourrights #history #punkrockhistory #otd

Classic "constantly composing confounding communications; cleaving cleverly, cooperatively conundrum." Criteria... charitable coherency. Crucible: Carefully confound certifiably corrupt challeges conferred circa claimed-cognizant calculation cohorts, crass computer companions, crashing civilization.

This next author needs no introduction. Please leave the house lights up. 4/22/25 — Open 6-9p. No open drinks, please. Many nice hardcover editions lurking here, too; if you're not afraid to take a look. 😉

On Easter, Tom Turkey wasn't worried. Omw to visit bro, bird flew across Wayne Ave, in busy traffic, perhaps iso the fabled Limp Bizkit show at Sunoco. I circled back for pics & broke the news about the show. Last seen headed toward Smale's Pretzels. 4/21/25 — Open 6-9p. No open drinks, please.

I switched my #BrimOnFifth hats yesterday, stowing the felt & donning the straw. Brim is undergoing repairs, but their online store is open 24/7 at brimonfifth.com. Meanwhile, at #BonnettsBooks... Ready for Summer reads? We've got 'em! 4/19/25 — Open 6-9p Mask recommended. No open drinks, please.

Goooooood Fridaaaaay, Dayton! How about adding a book to your Easter Baskets? 4/18/25 — Open 6-9p. No open drinks, please. A few highlights from last night's adds. Not shown: a copy of Maurice Sendak's "Where the Wild Things Are," a bunch of cozy romances, mysteries, sci-fi/fantasy, and more!

Life is always in flux. Some things stand the test of time. 4/17/25 — Open 6-9p Mask recommended. No open drinks, please. This book turns 80 next year. Find it in this 86 yo store, in a 149 yo bldg. A 61 yo man w/40 years of bookselling XP would love to sell it to you.

I'm kicking myself for inability to attend this. We celebrated Halloween watching "Pink Flamingos" here. If John Waters were in Dayton casually, as a tourist, there's no question our place would be a wickedly memorable & pleasant surprise! Support all the arts, especially of the outré œuvre.

John Waters is a genius.

If yesterday was "taxing," you may find a book relaxing. 4/16/25 — Open 6-9p Mask recommended. No open drinks, please. A spooky tale to en-trance, or adventure & romance. Exotic worlds with giant ants, heartache–a longing glance, or frisky lovers losing pants. It's your choice to take a chance...

Saw this as I was going to bed last night. Fifteen years ago, the local newspaper in Middletown did a fluff piece about how I use comics in my 9th grade classroom to engage students… and for some reason that rated the front page.

Niche. Nice! 4/15/25 — Open 6-9p Mask recommended. No open drinks please. Does "Wanna read a podcast" seem a silly question? Not to the hard of hearing. Subtitles subtlety subvert subtext; context, pacing inflection, lost in translations & transcriptions. It's better'n nothing, nil, or zilch.

Fairy Tales! Science Experiments! Fossils & Dinosaurs! Wonders of the Natural World! 4/14/25 — Open 6-9p Mask recommended. No open drinks, please. Today's fresh features are fun for the whole family. Also added: cookbooks, translation dictionaries, wellness–physical and otherwise, mysteries, etc.

Cali would like you to know who fills her dish & gives her treats. She's been in a posing mood lately. 4/12/25 — Open 6-9p Mask recommended. No open drinks please. The others get nervous when the camera comes out. Gotta catch them at rest. See last week's pic. #HappyCaturday!
