Sunday #UnconfinedWalks to see our new statue of Aphra Behn, and visit the cat cafe - especially Gus, my favourite fluffy friend.

I don't say this lightly, but the BBC are really not up to this moment. www.bbc.com/news/article...

Here’s a question for fellow theatre fans: if I’m planning a trip to Stratford, do I go for Much Ado (my fave Shakespeare, fun) or Titus Andronicus (grim and bloody but with Simon Russell Beale)?

I will be starting Invisalign as early as next week, and one thing which it will make almost impossible is sitting with a drink and snacks, so guess what I’m doing this afternoon? (Plus a good book) (Drink is an Ottolenghi pre-mix Negroni)

With everything going on in the world, I know it’s hard, but don’t forget to live. Find joy, smile, and hold on to what makes you happy. Because the weaker you feel, the easier it is for them to win.

Beginning the weekend with some Plausible Deniability -Scotch, Drambuie, Campari and lime juice. I admit I made it mainly for the name, but it’s good.

Finished this afternoon.

Because what else is there to do to cheer up a miserable wet Wednesday?

Think solar farms are bad for nature? Think again. Those designed for nature in East Anglia are teeming with birdlife - including threatened species. A new study reveals why. ⤵️

Revived an old favourite for dinner tonight: Hugh Fearnley- Whittingstall pasta with radicchio, red wine and pancetta.

Second cocktail of the night: a Reverse Martini. Might not scratch the itch if you were craving a martini, but good in its own right. (If you like vermouth, which I do).

A District Line cocktail to start the weekend: wish the actual District line was this refreshing.

Just seen screening of Importance of Being Earnest and loved it - especially Lady Bracknell! But, why is it we set Shakespeare in any and all periods but not Oscar Wilde? I’d love to see, eg an 80s New Romantic set Earnest.

Don’t think I ever posted this on here… latest work, something slightly different.

He's looking surprisingly good for his age.

Off to London for a dental x ray today. Between me and the husband it feels like we’re going to end up visiting every dental surgery in central London.

Allegory alert!

Happy Valentine’s Day! Or Pink Halloween, as I heard it described, which I’m definitely using. This is the highly appropriately named Sweetheart: vodka, rose liqueur, cranberry and lime juices. I expected it to be sweet, but it’s pleasingly sharp and refreshing. Metaphor for love perhaps?

Enjoyed Michelangelo, Leonardo, Raphael exhibition at Royal Academy. I do love Renaissance drawings.

Oh, beloved Fortnum and Mason, how I have missed you (this statement in no way influenced by the three glasses of lunchtime wine consumed in their wine bar).

Can confirm that lunch was excellent, and that I failed to take any photos of anything today.

*the last radio signal from the capital before London fell silent*

Another Ben Tish recipe for dinner tonight - spiced fried chicken, with Ed Smith radicchio with PX, and sweet potato fries. Delicious.

A Cynar and clementine Spritz to start the weekend. It’s been a funny sort of week, so this is welcome. And a good new spritz is always welcome anytime.

Depressing stuff this, isn't it?

Happy "Microsoft trying to force CoPilot subs" day in the UK for all who celebrate. (They just pinged me my renewal notice with it carefully worded to sound like a compulsory general price increase). 1) Go to your account page 2) Hit cancel 3) Change sub back.

Anybody on here had Invisalign? Any thoughts?

How’s this for a sunny-feeling dinner? Roasted aubergine, blood orange and tomato, from Ben Tish’s Mediterra.
