A Republican who didn't lie wouldn't seem like a real Republican. Just as gangsters must often kill a stranger for no reason in order to join the gang, Republicans must lie. It shows their suitability positions of trust.

It is safe to assume that almost anything a conservative says is a lie.

They would like to spend more punishing subordinated people, though.

Yes. People who actually make this happen - from ICE agents to administrators - know full well what they are doing, but choose to do it anyway. Without their willing assistance Trump would have no power to inflict harm on the innocent.

You just gave Stephen Miller an erection.

They make mouth sounds, but are not genuinely speaking. A promise means nothing from them. Their attempts to justify themselves or obtain sympathy are just more lies.

Lock 'em up!

Everyone who made this happen should go to prison for a very long time.

This medicine is poisonous and doesn't treat the disease. But we have to give our patients *something*!

Because it supports the regime?

Not to mention: as long as conservatives reject science, they will continue to rage at education - claiming it is a form of indoctrination. (Google the recent legislation regulating higher education that were recently enacted, for example, in Ohio.)

Does he think that there is a way of teaching normative political theory that doesn't "bring politics into the classroom"?

"I'm not a racist! (How dare you suggest I am!) I just sincerely believe that those people are worthy of contempt."

It may also be useful to note that evidence suggests that the rich would have better health outcomes under a more equitable regime. So: we should expect a wider spread between the rich and the poor - and that the poor will do worse in absolute terms. But the top will also do worse.

I've only ever been chased by a bunch of guys with baseball bats in rural America. I suspect they were a little judgy.

In the absence of a warrant or reasonable suspicion that the person has committed some particular crime, no US citizen is obligated to talk with ICE or permit them to perform a search. Mentally rehearse simply ignoring their demands. Know also that they are permitted to lie and cannot be believed.

When Obama was elected, I thought that the GOP had shit the bed so dramatically with Bush that voters would withhold support for the GOP for a good long while.

Yeah. Whatever happened to not negotiating with terrorists?

Congratulations on getting these guys into government! It must be very rewarding for you to know that all twelve trans girls can now feel the full weight of the Federal government directed against them!

But has he ever said anything critical of the Dear Leader, Trump?
comment in response to post
But that would spoil their mission of pushing conservative ideology.

Does he not like being addressed with pronouns inconsistent with his gender identity?

*We're* not destroying those institutions. Trump and his enablers are.

If I recall correctly, Young Republicans supported apartheid in the 80s. Didn't Grover Norquist even travel there to work on behalf of apartheid.

Congratulations!

We should be extra-vigilant about moves in that direction, therefore.

So? Even if true, it wouldn't mean that things can't be less unjust. Nor does it mean that we can't evaluate thing w.r.t. their justice.

It's a banana, Michael. What could it cost, ten dollars?
comment in response to post
Even if this is their goal, the means Trump and his collaborators chose to accomplish this is unjust - partly because it is dishonest.
comment in response to post
So? The Trump administration is happy to punish people it knows are innocent of the criminal behavior it alleged.

Time for citizens arrests!

Remind me: what was the Bush Doctrine? Surely, if it was good enough for the USA, it is good enough for Canada.

Because their job is to whitewash MAGA insanity?

If the law doesn't restrain them, then what will?

I'm starting to suspect that the GOP has a tendency towards hypocrisy!

With the right policies living in Germany could be just like living in Mississippi!

Trumpist love lies more than they love their own children.
comment in response to post
They were just lying about that stuff.
comment in response to post
We? Isn't it Trump and his supporters?
comment in response to post
We? It was MAGA that didi it. Anyway, if Canada were to preemptively strike Trump personally, lots of Americans would see it as justified.

The GOP: "Black Lives Don't Matter."

How pro-justice is someone with a disposition to fall for Trumpism?

Be sure to thank a Trump voter!

Why feel some urge to accept consequences? If some bully attacks me, I am free to fight back. If some bigot targets me on account of my race, I am free to fight back. etc.
