The wording of “would hire/wouldn’t hire” is crucial. Just bc I interview with someone who would hire me *in theory* doesn’t mean they’ll pick me over a cis person with the same resume. Many people will feel more comfortable with the cis person whether they’re conscious of it or not.

I was a massive nerd from when I was a kid but didn't get a tech job till my mid thirties in the UK because except for a handful of trans women who transitioned in the industry if you transitioned young you couldn't break into it till recently.

For my birthday my sister took me to the 25th anniversary show of a #thegetupkids album we used to listen to back when I was terrified of being myself. The awkward dedication of a song to #trans people 25 years later was kinda nice.

Honestly, I think this is true. Even some of the fake both-sides anti-trans "centrists" are sort of mumbling and upset with the way Trump is enacting the same policies they've been calling for for years. Trump just makes bare exactly what's behind anti-trans sentiment.

Someone on Facebook asked advice for a coverup tattoo for a Gaiman quote (and fair enough!) and a tattoo artist got chatting and said they do so many HP coverups these days too. That made me very happy. Then they said: "I donate the money from hp coverups to trans advocacy groups" and I got happier.
