This is unsustainable. Especially in a prerevolutionary society. www.cnbc.com/2025/04/26/a...

Central Illinoisians of a certain age know this Captain pictured alongside his First Mate, Salty Sam.

24 April 1976: Paul McCartney pays a visit to John Lennon at the Dakota in New York City. The pair consider performing on NBC's Saturday Night Live, and claiming a fee of $3,000! "We nearly got into a cab, but we were actually too tired…" See more: www.beatlesbible.com/1976/04/24/j...

Never has someone served so long and accomplished so little. He entered politics at the state level in 1969. I’ve never seen someone so willing to compromise with the GOP and who was so willfully ignorant of their nature. He stayed because he did what the establishment wanted.

This is fucking insane and it isn't about autism. This would enable them to create a system capable of profiling any person or health/behavioral condition imaginable, using private health data culled from private sources. It could be linked to Palintir's databases. Handed to insurance companies.

Everyone should read this fantastic piece about those who never make the headlines, but are nonetheless the important players moving us toward dystopia.

It was obvious to see years ago, (remember Julian Castro?) but the Democratic establishment and the partisan media chose to gaslight the citizenry. She also never expressed regret in her role perpetuating the lie.

Great piece on the structural issues that underpin inflation. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Then Rome fell decades ago in central Illinois. There are roads in the rural areas that I used to go pheasant and quail hunting that were paved in the 70s, 80s, & 90s. They became gravel roads after 2000.

Back in early 2009, Nancy Pelosi announced she was no longer backing a government public option. Within hours United Healthcare lobbyist Steve Elmendorf announced a fundraiser. See how this works? www.commondreams.org/views/2009/0...

My centrist historian friends who are on this platform should read this piece. It might help to explain those to their left and right who are angry with the status quo. I can't recommend this piece enough.

If she was such a great candidate, how come she dropped out of the 2020 Democratic primaries without getting a single delegate? Seriously, she is so bad that she is polling as less popular than Trump. Does the Democratic leadership have any shame?

How is academia supposed to help 'defend democracy' when it is itself an aristocracy?

So much for fighting for Democracy. I learned years ago that the Democrats are softer than 10 ply toilet paper. thehill.com/homenews/sen...

The wine cave and his billionaire donors are ready.

The White Moderates Won't Save Us. They never have, they never will. MLK warned about them in his Letter from a Birmingham Jail. Recommend people read up on it.

We're in trouble. Schumer is looking for plausible deniability not fighting for the American people. His forty plus record as a Vichy Democrat doesn't bode well.

I’m sorry but not even close. Notice that the relative speed of the debris doesn’t exponentially increase. Driving thirty miles an hour down a two lane road appeared to be faster. I get the desire to blame Musk but think people.

I used to think that DC was Sodom and Gomorrah on the Potomac thirty years ago. www.propublica.org/article/joni...

If she was principled and consistent, she would do Cuomo like she did the much more progressive Al Franken. Of course Cuomo was much worse a predator that that goofball Franken.
