Chris Murphy: "My prediction is that if you vote for Kash Patel, more than any other confirmation vote you make, you will come to regret this one to your grave."

Support independent local press.

the single most un-american and anti-constitutional statement ever uttered by an american president

Adams must be removed. The city cannot sustain being governed for nearly a year by a Mayor who is being coerced by Trump admin in order to escape charges. This corruption poses a real threat to the people of the city. He should have resigned a while ago, but will not. So it’s time for him to go.

The DOGE anti-waste guys keep trying to find the Pentagon, but they accidentally turn off 395 at Crystal City. It happens to all of us.

We join with publishers, authors, booksellers & librarians to affirm that the White House executive order recognizing only two sexes constitutes censorship and has no place in a free society. University presses strive to give voice to the breadth of human knowledge & experience. 1/2

It's all so cruel and unnecessary.

Happy #BookBDay, Alex Zamalin! 🎆 COUNTERCULTURE, his political & intellectual history of US counterculture & the historical figures who redefined mainstream understandings of freedom, culture, art & politics, is “a reminder that the struggle is always ongoing.” — @edgeofsports.bsky.social

TODAY: Meet @moveon.org and us at the Treasury building to rally against Elon Musk’s hostile takeover. It’s time to tell this unelected billionaire to get his hands off our money. 👇

The fallout from Citizens v. United is a real bitch, huh? Kennedy, Roberts, Scalia, Thomas, Alito: Thanks, Guyyyyzzzzzz!

This is what the government did with 120K+ Japanese Americans in 1942. I know. I was there in those camps.

“I want to dedicate this award to all my immigrant brothers and sisters in this country. You are loved, you are worth it, and I will always fight with you.” — Shakira during her #GRAMMYs  acceptance speech.

I CANNOT believe what I'm reading in this order. This would make Kim Jong Un proud.

The trump kleptocracy is doing everything it can to cripple honest governance. Of all their crimes, their attacks on sexuality and gender, especially trans rights, are the most evil and will have the longest lasting impacts. Please support trans people as loudly as you can. We have to stop them.

Makes perfect sense to discontinue medical research right after a global pandemic that killed millions. This is the kind of strategic thinking we need!

I know "You need to read this" is an overused prompt, but YOU NEED TO READ THIS. Very grateful for Mishell's wisdom. I hope I take it to heart.

If it can't be changed then why are you banning us from changing it

Yet another reason why we all need to get out into nature whenever we can. He won't be out there, that's for damn sure.

David Lynch gave us the language we needed to better articulate the indescribable strangeness of our shared reality. “Lynchian” is so overused because it’s a viscerally understandable word without any known synonyms. I can’t imagine a more beautiful artistic legacy than that.

Friends, this GoFundMe is, unfortunately, legit. Can’t talk about it now, but I’m sure posts about the absurdity of life are to come. Please share if you can. #EatonFire

YES YES YES. Clear solutions from @triofrancos.bsky.social and @aldasky.bsky.social. Green economic populism is the only way to go. Let's implement this policy locally and at the state level. Maybe, just maybe, by 2028 we'll have a governing coalition to do a proper green transition.

What are we DOING here? We're just meant to sit and act like this insane plagiarism and climate threat that requires more money than anything has ever cost is worth it? Are we meant to pretend that ChatGPT is worth this aimless, meaningless destruction of capital and our environment? For what?

This looks great! I'm adding it to the to-read pile.

Hell yeah!

An update on American chestnut research. Love to see this tree get covered by a national news outlet.

I've been in a bad mood ever since reading about the Spines AI publishing platform and looking at that picture of the V-necked tech bros that are behind that utter bullshit. After reading this defense of book publishing (the human kind), I feel a little less alone in my anger.

This is a terrific essay. It conveys how I imagine a lot of us are feeling right now. I'm going to keep it around so I can come back to it as we tumble through the dark.

JONI MITCHELL: They took all the trees, put 'em in a tree museum / And they charged the people a dollar an' a half just to see 'em TECH BRO: Sounds awesome but can we make it a monthly subscription

This CEO has to be incredibly confident in his security detail.

Some truly Paul Verhoeven vibes here.
