now is the exact right time to see a kickass black female president kick all the ass, if only to put into greater relief what a fucking disasterpile of a person we have in that job rn also any time is also the right time and gd those guns

us auto manufacturers don't want an actual free market, bc if these cars became available, they'd lose. so they pay off pols to push bills predicated on bullshit claims of protecting american consumers, when really they're protecting themselves. maybe make better cars people actually want, dicks

all credit to @conniela.bsky.social for showing me this thread btw

eh, i think there's enough qualifiers and conditional statements here to make it clear -- sometimes good, but not like this but i concede to your larger point of let's not call anything this administration does good in any fashion to any degree

with his melted candle brain and melted candle face i simply cannot imagine how many times he thinks he called roy cohn

everyone in this administration and most of congress have brains made of toasted cucumber seeds and you simply cannot convince me of otherwise so don't bother

all of these are verifiable facts yet will not be enough to prevent this gaggle of lunatics from claiming victory somehow because we live in the upside-down

it's always people in their end-of-life phase who are perfectly ok with using as many natural resources as possible even if it leaves the world their children and grandchildren also occupy that much worse what incredible contempt he has for us all

the why is simple: - decisions are made based on info from the last 5 minutes - decisions are rolled out in 5 minutes' time - decisions will be revised 5 minutes from now - repeat every 15 minutes they call it leadership, the rest of us call it head-spinning chaos

wow that headline is awfully misleading and i def agree that must have been an editorial decision to drive traffic but ig what do we expect when pageviews = $ boy this place sucks

they still answer to the same directives as anyone else working for corporate news driven by a profit motive. and yet that machine gives them a big bullhorn which, i'll admit, they use better than most, even when it sometimes comes across as ham-fisted or self-righteous.

*rsbn, but really who gives a shit

fox is propaganda masquerading as news. newsmax and rbsn are propaganda without any masquerading whatsoever. btw, the name "newsmax" says it -- only idiots confuse quality with quantity. it's mondo marketing nonsense. have you ever picked a GP because they claimed to be "the most doctor"?
comment in response to post
fox is worse than both. but i also don't accept an "us or them" binary framing. in short: all news orgs should lose money. they should not exist to satisfy a profit motive. any that make programming decisions based on ratings/earnings are putting their own interests ahead of informing the public.

just the latest in infinite reasons why the floor of congress should not contain people so old that it resembles the house of lords at the end of the ruling class

maybe some did, but here's an idea how about we don't send the global economy spinning into the shitter, and if we want to talk to a country about trade imbalance, let's call them and set a meeting to discuss it 🤯 i know, right?
comment in response to post
let's first talk about all the water going to data centers instead of citizens and farmers, especially in arid areas, then we can listen to some smug chud blather about shower heads

if someone asks a person to spraypaint morrissey lyrics does it count as animal cruelty

there may have been some value in years past, but as of now, this is a wise decision

i've lost my taste for both of them completely and finally realized that even though there are still good people striving to do good work at both networks, they still do more harm than good, destroy nuance, and leave viewers more polarized and less informed than they were when they tuned in (2/2)
comment in response to post
whether it's CNN's decision to run panel shows that encourage conservative toadies like scott jennings to spin rapid-fire lies so "both sides" have representation or MSNBC firing @mehdirhasan.bsky.social and @joyannreid.bsky.social and other POC journalists who were actually doing their jobs (1/2)
comment in response to post
let's start with 10 and try to go up from there baby steps
comment in response to post
good idea, and i advise anyone reading this who feels similarly to do the same
comment in response to post
CNN is the WWE of news and MSNBC is the "i told you so network" and both care more about ratings than informing the electorate bc they are corporations owned by other corporations so yeah i doubt either of them would air this in its entirety

my first thought was this looks like what happens when: a child is caught in a lie by their parent and they eventually just kind of sit there x that time stanley yelled at ryan on the office and put the fear of god in him

i like irony so i'm hoping for something from an o henry short story like maybe he inhales so hard from talking nonstop that he accidentally asphyxiates on a tv camera that would be something to see

yet it makes me sad because think of how great it could be if one day all that energy and passion could be channeled into doing great new things for the american public instead of cleaning up the GOP's latest exploding diaper of a public policy i am saving my happiness for that day

first, congrats to you and your daughter! if the news tells us anything it's that the world could use more educated people i hope things find stasis soon, for your family and all those families and anyone else trying to do anything that requires funding and planning, so, anything at all i guess
