Asked ChatGPT to make me a map of the us with the state capitals marked and it went as well as you’d expect.

Morning. Song,,🐦🐦

I reported on economics full-time in 2020. It taught me there are no incentives to have a baby in the US. Women in the US have to pay for pre-natal, medical and child care, earn less, do most of the parenting and chores, get promoted less, and are now at 27% higher risk of maternal mortality.

Glad to see we’re addressing the root cause of all of this: Luther’s heresy

today on will it pretzel: char siu bao

Do something! Pull the BS parliamentary maneuvers that MTG did - move to adjourn all the time, submit resolutions to impeach Trump, get gravelled.

I used to select Dem primary candidates based on policy. Now I will aggressively try to destroy any Dem who says "we need to look forward not backward" and fervently support anyone who says "I will see these motherfuckers prosecuted and jailed if it's the last thing I do."

The ideas around “neutrality” and “bias” have done so much damage in the mainstream media. These ideas only work in one direction—against the left—and result in people in the industry who personally identify as left-leaning overcompensating and doing the right’s work for them

The logic of filling in public swimming pools with dirt or cement instead of racially integrating them, applied to the whole country

All of this could have been avoided if enough people had just decided to vote for a competent Black Indian woman. Racism...the downfall of America.

Taylor Swift’s silence on tariffs is disconcerting. Hope she’s ok.

The Heathyorker is just about the best parody/mashup account ever.

Wishing you and yours a very merry Confederate Surrender Day

Nintendo can get around the tariffs by using a floating barge with claw machines just outside US waters You can take a boat and pay $450 for unlimited attempts to win a Switch 2 from a claw machine If you win, it counts as “personal treasure,” exempt from tariffs under maritime salvage laws

my hope is that AI can empower the Dumbest, Least talented slobs i know to replace everything i ever loved with One Million Years of Content

a maybe underplayed aspect of tariffs is that they reduce mobility inside the country. make a big move? ship the really important, expensive stuff and rebuy what you need when you settle. except that’s harder when the bulky but cheap necessaries are no longer cheap and may be unavailable.

I think we’re underestimating short term inflation given people are clearly panic buying large purchases before tariffs hit but I also agree that Powell is empirically a smooth operator who won’t knee jerk fed policy off of a single interval of endogenous chaos induced by a lobotomite president
