Always great to be in demand.
However, City of Cape Town needs to manage the accommodation availability and affordability for locals.
Eye on the ball - ensure the constituents are benefitting from the addition of visitors to the economy otherwise the whole thing starts to fall apart.

But . . . to be honest humanity does not even worry about things that have 90 - 99% chance of blowing up in our faces this century.
We're too busy being keyboard warriors.
This asteroid with it's 1.6% chance of hitting us has very little chance of getting humanity to look up.

I actually appreciate the GiveDirectly infrastructure (tiny team + tech) that just puts the cash straight into the pockets / mobile money wallets of the people that need it.
It would be great to see more of this.

I think we can start with baby steps. Personal responsibility.
Ask ourselves questions when we see/ read things, ask the authors questions - thinking and checking before we post.
No need to be combative or fight. Just start to shift the norms and culture.
