Ontario Election Day is today… Take responsibility and vote! 🗳️ We have what we have because too many stayed home on election day. 🤷🏻‍♂️ In June 2022, Ontario saw a record low turnout—only 43.53% of eligible voters cast their ballots. Let’s do better. Democracy works best when we all show up! #onpoli

No voter card? No problem! Here’s what you can use instead to vote.

While out canvassing yesterday I was concerned by the number of ppl who didn't know they could vote without a voter card or registering! Let's help spread the word. www.elections.on.ca/en/voting-in... #onpoli

You do NOT need to your Voter Card to VOTE!!! Just bring IDs! Go VOTE!!! #onpoli #cdnpoli

New paper out on biodiversity in apple farming led by @robind6.bsky.social. Organic farming had rather limited benefits for local biodiversity as compared to conventional farming, and effects were inconsistent across taxa. Semi-natural habitats were more important for biodiversity conservation.

Advance polls open today in Ontario! Check where you can vote here: voterinformationservice.elections.on.ca/en/election/...

We need a caring Ontario 💚 #ONdebate #ONpoli

What about the fact that we didn't need this early election? #ONdebate #ONpoli

Ford keeps talking about keeping the economy moving, yet we have 80,000 homeless, most food bank usage, and people obviously struggling. So is this what he thinks a moving economy is?

Love that Mike Schreiner for @ontariogreens.bsky.social is always cordial and has an obviously collaborative attitude #ONDebate #ONPoli

So glad they are talking about post secondary. The financial situation with our universities is dire #onpoli #ondebate

The condescension from Ford is really annoying #ondebate #onpoli

How about trains before tunnels #ONdebate

When anyone, anywhere, can point to a published article from a predatory journal or even a preprint and say it backs their claims, we’re in real trouble. We desperately need to make “peer-reviewed” actually mean something again. 🧪 #AcademicSky #ScientificPublishing

Proportional representation!

Yay support for more train service!

At a candidates meeting for the #onpoli election. I wish candidates focus on reasons to vote for something rather than something to vote against

Here. Have a baby flamingo.

Proportional representation is really the only logical way elections should be determined!

Well the award for most cowardly, boot-lickingest academic society has squarely gone to the American Society of Microbiology, who has taken down features of various non-white scientists. Absolutely pathetic behavior. Those articles are now coming up as “under review”. Truly sickening cowardice here.

Be like a bee Peaceful, working for the good of the nest and the environment That is until, they, or their nestmates are unjustly perturbed. If then, They find their stinger. 🍁 #cdnpoli #uspoli #tariffs

About 70% of native bees in the US nest in the ground and are the most vulnerable bees to our high-pesticide agriculture. Native bees are the backbone of pollination services yet are in steep decline. If we value our abundant food supply, we need to protect our native bees. 🧪 🌍 tinyurl.com/54xjat4j

I study bumble bee movements and habitats to uncover ways to protect these incredible pollinators and ensure their survival. What’s your favourite thing about bumble bees? 🐝

Western honeybees 🐝 are invasive in most agricultural settings. Their presence impacts native pollinators. In Tibet, new bee hives displaced native pollinators. 🌸 Diversity recovered when honeybees were removed, but the new community was different. 🧪 🌏 🪲 🪳 🔗 academic.oup.com/jinsectscien...

🌟 Throwback to my 2020 research published in @science.org 🌼🐝 We showed how bumble bees actively shape their environment—making plants flower earlier to meet their needs. Nature’s engineers in action! 🧪🌏 Sharing this for anyone who missed it—let’s dive in! [1/17] 👇
