the ā€œyou should just eat less/differently or exercise more/differently or lose weight and then you can get off XYZ medsā€ is an old and tired take at the old and well-trodden intersection of ableism, healthism, and fatphobia

Thankfully I only have to wait 2.5 months to see my gastroenterologist! (Not ironic, many of my specialists are booked like 6 months out.)

I know this is Not That Serious but lawful can refer to a personal code rather than the literal rules and laws of a society! Lawful Neutral could absolutely fit this—or even Neutral Good tbh, respecting rules/laws generally but not being strictly bound to them.

So, today, I finished making a video game. graysongoal.itch.io/feel-better If you struggle with executive function or remembering how to do self-care - and you have chronic pain - this free game might help you, too.

The other issue I was calling about was that my subsequent claim was rejected for insufficient info. They didn’t specify what was missing & it had the same info as the aforementioned approved claim. The rep on the phone couldn’t identify what was missing either! Waiting 5 biz days for a reply now.

I called today about another issue (see next skeet) and asked if they could have the check reissued yet. I was put on hold momentarily for her to look into it and was told I would have to wait ANOTHER 30 BUSINESS DAYS for the check to arrive.

I’m very excited to read things that bring me joy and expand my knowledge. I’m eager to use my NYPL card more, especially for audio/e-books. This is my first book of the year and I love it. I’d be highlighting every page if it were my own physical copy.

I ended up having my surgery two weeks later on 11/19/2020. Everything went fantastically and I was surrounded by an abundance of love and support. But this careless mistake (from a corporation with care in their name!!) tainted an otherwise joyous experience with excessive anxiety. 4/4

The reason they denied the claim? Apparently my hysterectomy exceeded the number of physiotherapy sessions my plan allowed. A completely careless error in the system somewhere. 3/

They were confident that insurance would ultimately cover the procedure, but the soonest they could reschedule me for was two weeks later. It was the most agonising wait, between the election aftermath and the constant fear that they would go back to cancelling all elective surgeries. 2/

And another study (more conceptual piece) that I am proud of is an old one, where Les Irwig, Patrick Bossuyt and myself explained why sensitivity and specificity may change when prevalence changes: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
