I truly don’t blame anyone for it tbh. Unacceptable 3 out of the last 4 games

Second straight season and three out of four with a collapse with the NCAA Tournament in hand. Not really much to explain. Your strength failed you three times in four games. That's an everyone problem.

If Wake does complete this comeback, circle the decision to insert Parker Friedrichsen into the lineup. His defense has been notable

Along with getting stops, Wake has to continue to put pressure on the rim like they have the last few possessions. Buchanan with 4 foulds, Saunders/Rhode/Cofie/Murray with 3.

Hunter Sallis and-1, will go to the line for the free throw. Wake down 5 with 7:31

Wake trying to get something (defensively) out of that third guard spot, Parker Friedrichsen back into the game

Wake Forest had gotten it down to 5, but a couple of zone-busting 3s has pushed the deficit back up to 11. That's the only real difference in the game. UVA has only 2 more baskets made than Wake, but are 9-18 from 3

Wake has gotten this deficit down to 6 and there has been a complete energy shift

Wake Forst find themselves down 11 at half with their season on the line. The offense has been more than fine, UVA is shooting 63% from the field and 6-11(54.5%) from 3. Something has to give if Wake wants to make the tournament

I've seen more moving screens called in this game than any other UVA game I've watched

It took until the 4:13 mark but Wake Forest finally has their first kill of the game and have scored on 2 of their last 3 possessions

Minus a couple of really awful entry passes, Wake's offense has been solid the first ~10 minutes of the game. The problem has been there's no bite defensively right now, which is jarring

lol Cam Hildreth sure did mean to do that

Wake got a bit fortunate leaving a very good shooter that wide open, but they seem to love their matchup on the offensive end with their bigs

🎶we’re playin bas-ket-balllll🎶

The Wake Forest 2-26 Hater Index is live have at it 247sports.com/college/wake...

As the 7pm games tip off, time to introduce you to something near and dear to my heart: The Hater Index. Call it an Anti rooting guide for Wake Forest fans. https://buff.ly/3F5atat

Finally getting around to posting this morning's Inside the Forest. Lot of stuff to work through after Wake's loss this weekend.

Everything Wake Forest HC Steve Forbes had to say during Monday's ACC Coaches teleconference (🔓 ):

This is where NET is misleading. Best NET team was VT at 27th… but they weren’t even close to the tournament until they won ACCT. The best win overall was UNC at 33 which 1) wasnt even a Q1 win for wake and 2) was seen as a very meh team until their NCAAT run

Not a theory, it’s the reality. If you win November, you are set for the rest of the year. South Carolina finally won their first game in 2025 last night. They’ve stayed a Q2 road game for the entire league all season due to OOC wins and occasionally not getting blown out in conference

- ESPN has been the worst about it and everyone has criticized their metrics (to the point they’re constantly changing because they’re that bad) - the 21-22 team’s resume was *way* worse than this one. If that team had the Michigan win, they’re in. Which is what they were told after the year

It’s why coaches don’t schedule Q3 out of conference. We get too much in our heads about Q3 being awful when if they were 2-3 spots better it’d be a team you go on the road to for a Q1. Doesn’t mean it’s great you lost, especially the way you did, but those teams just don’t roll over

It’s something I have written down to talk about: it’s part being on the bubble, but a massive ingredient of it is because every game is a landmine. Heading into yesterday there were 4 teams in the ACC that if you lost to you’d go “eh that’s fine” just about everyone else is “Jesus that’s bad”

By every person that does bracketology, they’ve said after the loss 3-1 still is enough to get you in and as of today you’d still be in the tournament. Anything else would be throwing feelings at the situation

I get it for the most part: - bubble life sucks - wake has continuously stepped on a rake the last 4 years when in position to make the tournament But *every* game been a referendum on everything just isn’t a healthy way to live

By my mentions? No. By reality? Yes. Q2 road games just don’t do a ton to your metrics. There’s a reason they’re always close by Vegas and advanced metrics

Wake Forest dropped…. 2 spots in the NET. Their resume metrics (their calling card this year) went relatively unchanged. Dropped 2 spots in SOR, but resume average at 37 after being 35 yesterday.

Jesus

I get the loss being bad but dear lord the misery of people makes it a constant struggle of “shit why do I do this?”

Well uh… I guess I have to cancel my plans for the next 4 games since the season ended?

Wake Forest falls to NC State 85-73. The defense completely failed them this game and the offense went completely cold after going up 61-56 with 8:23 left, going 1-for-10 the rest of the way

NC State hits their 13th three of the game (most this season), on their 32nd attempt from deep (second most this year). Comical.

Hunter Sallis gets blocked at the rim on a dunk attempt, Efton Reid fouls out, yeah we're about done here

Basically have to circle that O'Connell 3 when Wake had someone trapped in the corner up 5. A stop there and this game looks insanely different. Just a miserable performance since (and first half that put you in the hole)

Juke Harris leaves Styles wide open, Efton Reid runs right into him and we are about done here unless Wake can find anything with 2:48 left

6 point lead for NC State here with under 5 to go and it feels a lot like danger zone

Omaha Biliew checking in after Reid gets his 4th

Efton Reid is pretty upset about that offensive foul. (I don't either) but that's just kinda how Ben Middlebrooks plays and he gets the call almost every time

Hunter Sallis with the Boopie
