Tomorrow is the start of our second iRacing season - Realish Radical Racing is at Oschersleben! It's not too late to join in, all you need is an iRacing subscription as the car and all the tracks are included with it. If you're new to simracing, we have a proud tradition of encouraging new drivers.

Needed a distraction this week so I wrote a big blog post about Ridge Racery stuff. I appreciate the support if you’d like to check it out! It might be the 6th or 7th best thing I’ve ever written. thevirtuaplanet.com/2025/06/18/t...

At the con yesterday, @bonuslizard.bsky.social showed me an absolutely demented Super Mario Kart ROM hack which proves, once again, that no one enjoys making others suffer for the sake of entertainment quite like Mario fan creators and modders www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Ai3...

Unfortunately timed Indycar promo reel to commercial:

People use this thing like a search engine. It is currently dictating public policy.

Absolutely in love with the wholesome chaos that is Internet Roadtrip - "fantastic 2nd monitor bullshit". The interaction with a random Nova Scotia radio station is incredible. neal.fun/internet-roa...

After a weeklong trek across central Nova Scotia, the crowd-controlled Internet Roadtrip has reached the Halifax area, and for some reason the first thing they voted to do was to visit IKEA neal.fun/internet-roadtrip

Happy 5 year anniversary to Edward Colston's statue getting thrown into Bristol Harbour :D

That was absolutely disgraceful from Verstappen, intentionally driving into another car for no reason. That should be a disqualification. Even if it isn't, he's already on eight penalty points so there could be significant implications. #F1 #SpanishGP #RaceFans

I love how the TV cameras still make the Detroit circuit look like an industrial estate even though it's actually in a pretty spectacular location. #IndyCar

Maybe I'm just not a big enough fan of water that tastes like TV static, but I have managed to line just fine without instant boiling water - I have a kettle.

I've been getting organised Realish Racing races on iRacing up and running this year and after a learning first season, we're keen to recruit new members going forward. I've been part of this community for years and we have a great time, so if these events sound fun please do have a look!

Coming on Sunday 8th June: Cruddy XIV on the Crud. Our longstanding annual oval race goes off-road, featuring Formula Ford 1600 at USA International Speedway (dirt version). This was so much fun in Week 13 that we had to repeat it!

Alex Palou is inevitable.

Happy Monaco GP and Indy 500 day to all who celebrate.

Super Sunday: motorsport edition.

I think I've found the best way for an RPG idiot like me to play Baldur's Gate 3, which is to have a friend who knows what they're doing and wants you to handle the interactions to psychoanalyse yourv responses. Anyway, please enjoy my character's moustache.

I hope people take my game opinions with a grain of salt because I paid full retail price for these games. Please share your Full Retail regrets, cowards #FullRetailRegrets (justification/explanation/cope in alt text)

My local team plays in Scottish League 1 and I've seen some crap matches this season, but that one's down there. Pleased for Ange though, I still think he can do something spectacular in the right place. And good schadenfreude seeing United lose a "must win" game.

See my worry is that—because acting on my ideas leads to having more ideas—using AI to generate ideas means you ultimately get fewer ideas and become less creative.

You're all flapping your gums about Mario Kart this, Welcome Tour that, Game-Key Cards this, $80 games that, shamefully unaware that the real day one Switch 2 gem is powersliding right under your beaks

With all the dry weather recently, the river is low enough to be able to see the natural vegetation.

Big disagree. This only appeared once in the international feed (and the ghost car was all over the place) but I don't like taking out all of the tension of seeing the lap speeds come up when it's super close. Save it for the analysis afterwards.

What a run from Robert Shwartzman. A rookie in a new team on pole, incredible!

#Indy500 qualifying is so good - put it on in the background and go. I don't want 7 hour qualifying sessions to be the norm but the biggest race should have the biggest, most absurd 2-day qualifying.

During Brazil 2012, I remember leaning back and thinking "that was exceptionally good" then realising we were only 20 or so laps in. A baffling omission from a best Grand Prix list.

Starmer is the human embodiment of "I have principles, and if you don't like them I have others"

Just saw an advert for a tacky gold-plated commemorative VE day 50p coin. Not notable but the smallprint said that it's only legal tender in the Falkland Islands, which honestly raises more questions than it answers.

Joke's on them, I've never been cool.

I don't 'refuse to use' AI, I just don't use AI; in the same way that I don't shoplift, or plagiarise other people's books - it requires no effort of will, it's just not something I would think of doing

This early 90s pizza advert from America is horrifying. No matter where you *think* it's going, you're wrong...

PSA: wear a helmet when you're cycling. I broke my collar bone today which is bad enough, but it could have been an awful lot worse.

lot of negativity towards AI lately, but consider : are these tools ethical or environmentally sustainable? No. *but* do they enable great things that people want? Also no. *but* are they being made by well meaning people for good reasons? Once again, no. maybe you're not being negative *enough*

I love archive.org but they drive me nuts. Their archive is so, so, SO valuable, but they keep starting these extremely questionable initiatives with obviously in-print and available copyrighted media, then getting sued and doing this shit.

“biological sex” should refer only to having sex in a lab, knocking over microscopes and shit, contaminating every surface while scientists watch you and take notes

After yesterday's depressing news, it's heartening to see @wikipedia.org give a subtle middle finger to those who insist that gender has always been an either/or binary. It's just common sense!
