👆Btw: this is a VERY quick and easy recipe. We were sooo tired after our tour of local farms today, the sauce took only 7 Min, the whole dinner - about 20 mins. Including opening the wine 😃 Happy Saturday #foodies! 🍽️

Simple wine sauce (continued - see above): Reduce til just a little liquid left. 4) Add juices from resting steak. Add 1/3 cup red wine, reduce til syrupy. Remove from heat, swirl in 2 tbsp cold butter. 🧈 Video: sauce is ready to take butter.

Simple wine sauce: 1) Make after the steak is ready - continue with the same pan, use the fat & sucs left from frying the steak. 2) Add 1 tbsp butter and then one chopped shallot. Cook til soft. 3) Deglaze with 1/3 cup chicken stock. Reduce til just a little liquid left.

Mom has 1940s Telefunken (spelling?) she uses it as a bed side table now 😢 I remember listening to it when was in high school… Always wanted to get it back to a honourable RADIO state but was never allowed to take it apart! 😃

The closest shot of our bear from a couple of years ago. Usually we just get out of the way and dont waste time to take photos 😃 At first I was scared sh!tless of them but you can get used to anything, even bears 🐻

😢Oh gosh… I’ve read the USDA canning book, it is not what I’d follow. If I didnt have my gran recipes and didnt have my sis figuring out new recipes I’d probably just do a YouTube search for the most popular recipes (but I have an advantage of understanding Ukrainian and Russian. these are the best)

We started canning about 5 years ago… it takes time to learn, we are still learning about meat preservation. But it is FUN, really 😃 The best of luck with your pickles - look at ours if you wish, we figured out a very good recipe last summer: cannedexperience.com/pickled-cucu... 🫙

Our backyard and forest-like parks nearby are a war ground in summer: We constantly compete for the blackberry harvest with our neighborhood bears! 🐻 Love canning these gems🫙

Yes, tx for asking! Adding a link to the fish stock recipe in comments 🐟🐟

Yes of course! We did use our own fish stock (made it a couple of weeks ago, it keeps well in the freezer): Recipe 👉 cannedexperience.com/fish-stock-r...

Congrats! Love how you can EVERYTHING 😋 😍 We have to try a pressure canner yet… we never done meat or fish canning, only freezer recipes. Must learn!!! 🫙 we love our easy-going atmospheric steam canner, we also sometimes follow grandma’s advice on jams and pickles (inversion canning!).

Omg poor guy… and poor you… sending an immunity-boosting thoughts your way :) Once I had to sit thru the cross-Atlantic flight beside a lethargic lady who was coughing for 9 hrs straight. got a nasty cold afterwards of course.

Definitely, whatever is being sold in most of our 🇨🇦🇺🇸shops is very different from Ukrainian/ European cottage cheese. We sometimes make it ourselves, just like grandma used to make (she didn’t like what we had in shops😃). Milk —>Homemade buttermilk —> heated—>drained —>cheese + whey for baking.
comment in response to post
Europeans were doing the same. We learnt about this practice at school back home. Fight the fire with 🔥

This is BC 🇨🇦 We are blessed by the beauty of mountains and forest surrounding us. Complete with squirrels, deer, bears, racoons, coyotes and an occasional cougar … fun😃

😃 we used to love the-Russian-Ukrainian-shop pelmeni, at least most of the “brands” (often they are made at peoples homes and sold at shop). But since we mastered the art of pelmeni-making… we never looked back 😃
